I've been pondering this a little while. The ongoing argument about cars.com and its nuisance value weighed against the money it makes for the site has sort of crystallised this.

While I have more credit cards than I can afford, and really my age and girth mitigate against the tee shirts, I've been wondering how I might contribute to the running of the site.

Also, while determinedly posting requests for bits and bobs on the classified ads thread, I note that very little traffic actually passes through.

I wonder if this strikes any resonance with anyone?

How would it be if people were to place classifieds in the normal place, and perhaps indicate whether they were willing to pledge a percentage of any take to Craig and the maintenance of the ten-tenths site? I know it would have to be an ad-hoc arrangement, and there would have to be an element of trust involved, but it might make a few pennies that could make all the difference.

I know for a fact that there is motor sport memorabilia cluttering up my place, which I am loath to put on e-bay for them to take a cut. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of people on this site have duplicates of mags, books, models and things, that could find appreciative new homes.

I'm not suggesting that ten-tenths take any sort of responsibility for any transactions. That would be a legal minefield. But as Craig has thought to place a classifieds column on this bulletin board, it seems churlish not to give the forum something in return.

What do people think?

Fair idea actually Tim.
I'll have to resurrect my bike ad...if I can sell that I'll gladly buy Craig a lager
It would have to be purely voluntary and the amount of the donation pledged in advance.
