The only other problem is that the only car I have ready to go is an automatic Honda and she's never driven an auto, should be good for a laugh when she pushes the brake pedal with both feet when she wants to stop She took a picture of the other car (a new Volvo) and I was quite surprised how much damage her little Polo inflicted on it . |

[QUOTE=GORDON STREETER;3385788]How did you guess Tim ! but the fact that she phoned me from work meant that she wasn't in A&E !

Came into the office, 'Think you had better come and see this, had an accident'. Went to see that he had written off four cars , in a car park, 'Not used to automatic's, sorry'. |

When milady had had her new knee joint and said she wouldn't be able to drive for a while I made the mistake of telling her she could use the Audi estate as it was auto........and was very firmly told that she "doesn't do automatics!" As for the Volvo - all the new stuff is designed to crumple, these days of course, to avoid pedestrian injuries..... |

It seems I've said it all wrong again, Susi has to have a fairly serious op on her foot this year. They can do it as a day case to which I said that's handy as she should be home in time to cook my evening meal, she was not amused despite my offer of picking her up from hospital if she could manage to walk to the car park as I didn't really want to fork out for paying for parking, I even offered her the bus fair to get there in the morning and said I'd see if I could get a job that way so I could pop in and see her at lunch time. There's just no helping some people.

I'm obviously a lucky man, Mrs M has more consideration. She managed to hold off major abdominal surgery for about 15 years until after No 1 son had passed his driving test so he could pick her up from hospital and I could go to Silverstone and she's never even mentioned it since. Come to think of it, she doesn't speak to me much at all these days.

Any trouble from women, I just remind them of the natural and undeniable facts of natural selection.
They are born with smaller feet so that they can stand closer to the kitchen sink, and get married in white so that they match the kitchen appliances ............... natures logic ..... simples. If any further problems just show them the Harry Enfield "Women, know your limits" sketch, easily found on YouTube. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gentlemen if you haven't got anything planned for today (Saturday) may I suggest you watch Motors tv from Winton Raceway and watch the Touring Car Masters for some good racing as seen in Aussie during 70/80s.

Well just to show my other half how good I am I spent last night in A&E waiting for Sue as our local doctor was concerned about a loud clicking noise from her neck that has started since the car crash last week.
He said "I don't want to alarm you but you may have a broken neck" ! After various test and X rays it appears that she hasn't, so it was a waste of time me rushing home searching for her life insurance policy to make sure it was all correct ! |

There only seems to be delayed coverage of the V8 Supercars billed.

Narrow track isn't it ... Missed the start but I was watching the very long looking snake of cars all driving round seemingly linked together (not a criticism btw - must take some concentration) when a Volvo took to the pits and pulled into the garage for some work. A few laps later he was out again but did less than a lap before pulling off smoking badly and heading well off the circuit and parking up. Next up came a safety car - I was not listening to the commentary so have no idea why the safety car was deployed. It seemed to be to allow recovery of the Volvo - which would have annoyed me if I were the leader at the time with his nice 2 to 3 second cushion to second. Cur the Volvo being towed back to the pits along the circuit with, so far as I could tell, the driver absent a helmet as the Safety car and the rest drove past weaving to keep the tyres working. Odd I thought - never seen that happen in the UK - even after the race a towed recovery in the UK seems to require drivers to wear helmets. So they all bunch up for the rolling restart and ... havoc. Cars all over the place. Bits of body work littering the circuit, wheels hanging at odd angles and a number of cars trying to get back to the pits in a crippled condition. I would guess the Safety car hardly had time to stop before it was out again. I suppose I should have watched the rest of the race but it was really time to head for bed. One would have to question the safety car call if it was only for the recovery. Moreover one would have to question the events just after the end of the safety car period. Or are these things part of the racing script? Up to that point the closeness of the racing together with the camera coverage from in-car had been excellent. Presumably the Historic stuff is a little more respectful of machinery? |

It's on again at about 4 O'clock so I might tune in, most of the races I've watched so far all the decent racing action seems to happen in the last 15 minutes.
