I just don't get that. If there were 10 factory entries, should they then be reduced to 1 entry, "to even out the chances for privateers"? Rhetorical question.

The chances of getting 10 factory double entries in P1 is slim and nil .

So , it would never come to that .....

Hearing Hekki Kovalainen saying that he possibly wont be on the F1 grid next year, can anyone else see him cropping up at a decent P1 team for 2013?

Potentially more seats opening up for '14 in the WEC so maybe it would be a shrewd move. His career has really stalled at Caterham but I think he has the right mentality and speed to be a top-level endurance driver.

Kovalainen is not interested in sports cars, IndyCar or DTM. He said that will continue to F1 or moves Rally or to end his career.

I'd have to agree with that. I can't understand drivers who rule out certain series for no apparent reason. But, as they say, each to their own.

F1 is the pinnacle because it's the most watched, best paying (front runners and factory teams at least) and fastest racing there is. If LMP1's were say ~750kg and allowed more hybrid tech, the last part could definitely change!

It is 2013 LM24 participating vehicle.

With Dome recruiting staff for a 2014 P1/P2 effort is this a stand alone project or a manufacturer backed one, I wonder....

Maybe there's a hint that Mazda might return to LMP1 in 2015 or 2016, other than providing LMP2 teams with their Diesel engine.

Just hoping that it's a rotary-based prototype.

I don't know if they intend to return to P1 in the near future, but looking at their engine strategy the chances of a rotary engine seem pretty low in my opinion. But I may be wrong.

To see another rotary P1 would be cool tho

Good to see Mazda upping their game. Some type of long-term commitment would be amazing but let's see.
