it should be pretty light, most Lotus's are..

is the car even homologated to GT2 rules? The article says it will eace in GT2, not G2.

I don't know the weight of the car but I am interested to hear that it will be one stopping, even before it has run a single lap around Zhuhai.

Last year Vonka's Porsche stopped only once, too and finished third, but it was 9 laps behind the class winning Ferrari 360. I wonder how the Lotus will be competitive stopping just once?

That sounded strange for a minute there, a class winning 360 in FIA GT!!
Guess the rot is setting in that class already - therefore "welcome in" to Lotus! Variety is always welcome - have Lotus had anything at all to do with this project?

Or with K3, the belgian music group? :P

On the serious note, if I'm not mistaken that car was built for the son of the chairman of Proton, the company wich owns Lotus again.

guys it is one beautiful weapon that is short on development but does have a 12hour race win under its belt. Won the Merdeka Millenium 12hour in KL this year. Sounds lovely and goes well. By the way Djey is the prince of malaysia.

Good fun group of guys.

The car is not homologated but it could be done if it proves to be competitive after this race.

It would be good to see Lotus racing at Le Mans.

If its running in GT2, then it has to be homologated. There are more than 25 Lotus Exige in the world, after all. So homologation shouldn't be too much of an issue.

None of them has a V6 though, isn't that a problem?

Found the weight of this car as well; 850kg. Combined with a 405hp engine.... Fun?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the engine is that important to the homologation process, just the fact that they build roadcars.

But I could be wrong. I've just read that its going to race in the GT2 category. If its full GT2, it must be homologated. It could be that it will run in the G2 class of the GT2 category. Might be a reporting error.

It was for the V8 in the M3 GTR.

The three leading MC12s will recieve an extra 40kg ballast for the last three races due to the improved performance of the Pirellis they use.

Can't be doing with these restrictions, especially so when they are completely out of the blue.

Adding ballast to keep the field balanced: fine

Adding ballast and making up a stupid (inconsequent as it isn't applied on the #16 MC12 and the 575's) reason for it: amateuristic behaviour of the organisation.

Agreed!

I hate this kind of tinkering. Pointless and unnecessary with only three races in the season remaining. Rules should be consistent for the entire season unless there are safety issues. Those responsible for this surely lose credibility, especially since only three of the four Maserati's are being penalised. Wait until the end of the season and then make the changes. Stupid!!

There is a new Lotus on the cards, based on the Elise floor the new Europa will feature different body etc.

Would make the sense for the existing Exinge to be rebaged and raced as a europa next year.
