2CV 24 Hour Race
Thanks to you all for a very enjoyable weekend, certainly different to other 24 hour races and lots of fun. I apologise to anyone who I scared with my driving in the Hyundai mini bus, have to be honest - I normally drive an automatic

As one of the few marshels that was there at the meeting it was great fun. cann't comment on driving of the minibus as I didn't need to use it. It was a shame that some of the marshels that said they would be there weren't.

once again this event lived up to all expectations, Great support from the teams again and thank you to all teams for the goody bags which were very welcome. Only one comment to make on those, you have seen the average marshal many times and by now you should understand our diets, they do not consist of fruit (that is what I was informed the green and orange round things were) and ceral bars, the most ceral marshals consume have been fermented in to tasty liquids
Another great race and yet again Snetterton didnt dissapoint with the weather, yes we got some ! wind sun cloud and rain at stupid oclock and just when we found the dry bit of the hut at Esses the wind changed direction to ensure we got our early morning wash. Thanks also to the teams for the post race BBQ, and th the Flying Dutchmen for the post Tyrrels hospitality Congratulations to Team Gadget Racing for winning the pivotal moment of the race award as decided on by the marshals, I understand this was for rolling the car at Russels and the driver getting out, righting the car getting back in and continueing the race, true dedication. As Gozzer pointed out there were a few marshals who volunteered but for one reason or another failed to make it to the event which stretched the resources somewhat, those that were there pulled together and with Peter Hardings magical formula the manning rota was sorted. If you havent given the 2CV 24 Hr a go then please think about having a try it is seriously worth it. Those that were there this weekend will agree it has to be high the list of best meetings of the year. bring on 2011 Biggest thanks of all must go to BARC and Peter Harding who work tirelessly to make this event what it is, awesome! |

Just watched some very well presented news coverage of the event on ITV Anglia - you got way more coverage than their very short snippet about BTCC.
Locals hopefully can catch a repeat on the late evening news - else maybe check their news web site. |

I had a very enjoyable weekend. My only complaint was that I was too old and too tired for the after race partying so ended up asleep in my van by 10!!!!
Driving was very suspect Dave! Defo be back next year! |

Thank you to everyone involved in producing yet another superb 2cv 24hr meeting.
To all the marshalling team for being as flexible and co-operative as ever assisting with the post manning throughout the event and especially to Peter Harding for all his hard work with the allocations and shift planning in conjunction with Mike Whitney. Brilliant job team. To Chris Bird for sharing the Safety Car Observers role in what was effectively the Worlds Most Expensive Sun Lounger as we had so few runs out due to the superb driving standards of all the 2cv drivers and subsequent lack of incidents combined with a record low number of on-track mechanical breakdowns! Special thanks to all the Safety Car driving team who kindly offered their time to assist throughout the weekend. Thanks also to the Race Control & Race Admin team for all their efforts and once again to Jamie and all the MSV Snet team for all their support thoughout. Finally the biggest thanks to the 2cv drivers & teams for once again proving that you are the most enthusiastic group of people around and thanks once again for everything you do quietly behind the scenes for the marshals such as the BBQ and the goodie bags which were extremely appreciated by everyone. Here's to next year! Terry PS; Thanks Peter for doing the post swap at such short notice so that I could catch up on the sun tan! Glad to see the magnetic effective of the pies stayed just as effective with their transfer to you! |

Nice to have a meeting without too many drivers throwing their cars at the marshals. In fact it was the other way round with Terry's replacement throwing radios at the drivers.

Many thanks to all the organisers for another great 2CV 24hrs. Thanks to Peter and Mike for producing the rotas. thank to Chris & Paul for the company.
Many thanks to Mel and Paul R for the help regarding the trophy. Well done to all the teams and drivers, especially Tete Rouge, Team Stinky, Gadget Racing ( for even finishing), Basingstoke College and Hollis Motorsport for having the will to race after their recent bereivement (deepest sympathy to all the family). Thanks for the appreciation, Bar-B-Q and Food bags. Thanks to the commentary team for keeping us so well informed. Special thanx to Terry "they'll never find me in here" Scannell for the use of the caravan, you are a star. The best weather we've had for a long time, although it was quite interesting at Sear In on Sunday morning! Great to see so many Friends. There's more to life than BTCC. Roll on next year, better start thinking about ideas for next year's trophy. |

Great weekend, good racing by the support races as well as the 2 CV's and listening to the breakdown truck reporting that the driver of Car 6 (Team Gadget) had got out and put the car back on it's wheels himself Sear in on Sunday morning in the rain sure did keep me awake, even if I did get the drowned radio, thanks Peter Will try and get back next year Steve |

Thanks for all your efforts, what a weekend!!
Engineering pole for sammie with a push from car 42 was just the start. As a team we did over 40 stops for the 3 cars and used 750lts of fuel. The only repair we did to The Rent Boys was a rear drum at the last stop ,meyrick in the rain gave a masterclass in not falling off. At one point we we were using 4 fans an hour ,i've never used 4 fans in a race before. Anyway as a team our most succesful weekend , Pole position Fastest lap P1 P2 P4 First ever female champion. I will make sure next year that dean has his own goody bag , i wouldn't want to upset him so much again by trying to give him fruit. Thank you every single one of you who made last weekend the great event it was and for presenting Team Gadget with such a fantastic trophy. Well said Al, some great cars and great racing, Especially the Escort and the Dolomite. Shame about the damage to the BMW and the Rover.

Thanks, yes it was a shame as thats the 2nd or third Tim William has had a nasty one in the BMW this year, I suggested he paints it white again at that multi-coloured paint scheme seems unlucky to me!

Yeah, and the jag whose propshaft tore a hole in the exhaust as it broke off, allowing him to get as far as the pit exit in the first of his 4 races :\ Even so, the driver managed to be a little happy for the two guys who he would have left in his tracks, and who had a good race right down to the line

Your driving me and my fellow marshal in the rain at 10pm to some far flung part of the circuit Saturday night was much appreciated, as was all the advice over dinner Saturday. The experience was well worth the trek from Cardiff...!!! |

I had my annual weekend of pit crewing instead of marshalling, just to remind me how the other half live!
The marshals seemed thin on the ground, even in the pit lane there seemed to be one or two less on duty than last year. Good to hear everyone seemed to enjoy the event though. Far fewer safety cars than in previous years as well, but the ones that did come out gave us some big decisions to make about early pit stops! They all seemed to happen 30 or 40 minutes before we were planning a stop. A good weekend turned into a great one when our team (Stinky) got their first podium in the 24Hr. Everyone was delighted and I appreciate the warm comments from marshals and other teams after the chequered flag. |

Another excellent 24hr. Bit quieter than some - perhaps the teams are getting the hang of 24hr racing after 20 yrs.
Thanks for the goody bags - most welcome. |

Hi Gordon, I am going to see what else is on next year and try and do some more marshalling at Snetterton as although it's 252 miles from me each way, it's quite an easy drive (only 5 1/2 hours back early Monday morning!!).
Plus I'll make sure I supply the choc biscuits at 1am this time!! Sue |
