Newton John in Nascar !!!!
Emerson Newton John (Nephew of performer Olivia Newton John) will make his debut in Nascar next year when he joins the Dick Bahre Nascar Craftsman truck series in 2002.
He tested for the team almost 2 years ago and apparently went quite well but was unable to raise a budget to do the series..now it seems he does or the team are going to fund him (Im not sure which ?) this year Emmo has been driving openwheelers in Australia in our Formula Holden series and while very quick he suffered from a multitude of big crashes and his season eneded early when the team he was driving for decided to sell its cars mid season. he managed to pick up a drive with another team but never really came to grips with the car. here is a pic of the car he has been driving in 2001  anyway i dont really expect much from him next year ..but if he can curb his rate of accidents then he could become quite a handy driver. Lets see how he goes. |

and yes his career has been mainly open wheeler based so im sure he will cop a fair bit of flack for that

Marcus, where did he finish in the Formula Holden point standings the last two years? Does Aunt Olivia spend more time in Australia or the U.S.?

Emmo finished 5TH in this years series which wasnt that bad considering his luck ..but numbers were down alot this year.
I think his Aunt spends more time in the US these days and i must add that Emmo prides himself on taking no hand outs from here either ..he wants to make it on his own and if he doesnt have the money himself then he doesnt race. the above pic has a website on the side of the car which is his website for anyone that wants to go and check it out ..but Im not sure it has been updated for a month or two. |
