Serie internationale Group N 1996-97...
I'm looking for informations (reports, results, pictures, background of competitors) about this Serie. I'm particularly interested by the first two seasons, 1996 and 1997, as the 24 Hours of Spa were part of the serie. The Serie was organised by my Compatriot (Belgian) Mister Paul Raisin.
1997 calendars 1- Magione (end of April), 2 x 1 hour 2- Brands Hatch (end of May), 2 x 1 hour 3- Nürburgring (Juen 7 and 8), 24 hours 4- Spa-Francorchamps (August 2 and 3), 24 hours (5)- Silverstone (August 30 and 31)*, 2 x 1 hour 5- Salzburgring (September 15 and 16), 2 x 1 hour 6- Dijon (September 21), 2 x 1 hour 7- Vallelunga Silver Cup (November 15), 6 Hours * Silverstone Meeting was abandoned on Sunday morning (August 31) at the behest of the BRDC President (Lord HeskethÃ* following the death of Lady Di. Heat 1 did run on Saturday afternoon (August 30). I have the report of this uncompleted meeting in Autosport (4 September 1997). 1997 championship results 01- Wolfgang Savelsberg (Opel Astra GSi), 96 02- Stephane Van Dijck (BMW M3 3.2l), 93.5 03- Ian Khan (BMW M3 3.2l), 83 04- Michel Luxen (BMW M3 3.2l), 82 05- Olivier Prignon (Honda Civic), 76 06- Grant Elliot (Honda Civic), 74 06- Bill Stillwell (Honda Civic), 74 08- Eric Nève (Opel Astra GSI), 71 09- Jacky Delvaux (Renault Clio Williams), 69 10- Martin Wagenstetter (BMW M3), 57 11- Luca Cappellari (BMW M3 3.2l), 55 12- Didier Noirhomme (Renault Clio Williams), 53 12- Guy Povey (BMW M3), 53 12- David Cox (BMW M3), 53 15- Frédéric Baugnée (Renault Clio Williams), 50 |

Yes, come on folks; can we not help Marc out here? A bit too recent perhaps?

I can give you a bit of info about some of the drivers from UK and i'm sure that will knock some people into action! Ian Khan has been racing longtime in variety of classes, notably one makes, ARP F3, production saloons/ BTCC and sportscars! The list of things he's done is quite exhaustive. I think his son is Adam Langley-Khan who competes in the A1GP? Grant Elliot was some Honda UK marketing blokey I think, and originally raced in the Honda CRX series in late 80's before going onto spend several years in UK production saloons and Group N Bill Stillwell (and latterly his son Danny?) raced production saloons for a number of years. Bill originally ran a nice Fiat Strada (Ritmo) Abarth in the UK in the mid 1980's. Guy Povey is another driver who spent several years racing UK prod saloons originally in a small class Suzuki Swift and then had good succsess in E30 and E36 shaped M3's. Dave Cox was a road saloon Capri man in the mid 80's and progressed to racing again prodsaloons in a variety of cars including Golfs. Neve and Capellari also 'ring a few bells.' Neve raced touring cars around Europe for a while and may also have owned run a big team at one point. Was it a Volvo ETCC effort? Capellari has recently been seen pedalling GT's i think? Hope that starts you off, but i'm sure other members and posters can fill out on this a bit. Last edited by chunterer; 13 Sep 2006 at 16:38. |

Would this Dave Cox not be the one who competed in the Renault 5 Turbo/Clio series? Or are they both the same Dave Cox? |

Thanks for confirming that. I'm not sure if it's the same Dave Cox I could only remember the one i'm thinking of doing road saloons and then production saloons in 80's and 90's, but you're possibly right? |

There was a Dave Cox out in the Britcar 24 Hour at Silverstone last weekend. Not sure which one though!
