Why do you need an app on your phone to look at the stars Iain? If you go outside and look up, doesn't this work as well?
Right, I'll get me coat. |

Mrs Mac & I spent hours correcting the punctuation & grammar on No 1 son's dissertation. How were we to know that in microbiology all those capitals & commas had specific meanings?

When Sue does actually retire from school she said she would like to teach English to people that can't speak "propper", I suggested that she starts with me !

0500 alarm again for another trip up to Autosports. It's as bad as racing, this working lark. If anyone's coming we are in hall 10 which is the Oval section, sharing with our friends at Lille Racewear. Come and say hello :-)
Oh BTW I not actually representing my main "day job" but one of my other interests so don't look for my usual banners. |

Well I am not having the house soda blasted, I wont do it in the workshop but in the yard and am only going to use it on the few parts that are impossible to get out with the 4 inch grinder with wire brushes fitted so I dont think it will be a problem, I would loved to have had it dipped but cannot justify the 2k cost and agravation and cost taking it to Dudley and back and having to go up a week later to collect and put up with the leaching as well. I dont think any method is without problems its all a compromise. Also the shell isnt currently rolling and would take at least 6 people to lift it on and off the trailer all a bit impractable I'm afraid.

Love that old Gilbern, Mike. That was the car that led me to introduce myself to you, at Snetterton, some years ago, as I was interested (some would say nosy!) about it, and I asked loads of, no doubt, boring questions which you answered with patience and good humour!

Looks great MIke . . . we got overtaken by one on the M40 a few years ago ( I was obeying the speed limit!)
We have made progress with the Cortina . . . chassis is straight, sill repaired, underseal slowly coming off (£10 for every 500g, Arthur is keen to earn!) once that's all done we'll get it blasted, seam weld and repaint. |

Be good to see that out again, Joe.
I've noted a Tornado Talisman for sale with Albion Motors. Was that the one you prepped? |

DOug at MG motorsport built that John, I did the engine.
Funnily enough he painted it exactly the colour my second one is . . . which is original . .another project sidelined by the Cortina |

So that's 3 around then, including the above resto project? Something about the specialist sports cars from the 50's and early 60s that do it for me. Now, anyone got a Tornado Typhoon; quite fancy seeing one of those race.

Dave Martin has a selection of Tornado's, I got this TT from him, Simon bought the Birkett winning car and we both have spares . . . .that's 5 between us, Doug is embarking on another . . . . my spare one was sold but the guy backed out so its still up for grabs.

Gilbert now with added MOT. Need some dry salt free roads to get some miles on. Claire, wouldn't risk 6hrs in the car before Spa, but will be raced somewhere before Sept. Meanwhile Tango is currently having head gasket replaced. Fingers crossed no damage! John, I remember that day at Snett well. Gilbert has come a long way since then. Pity Goody don't have a race for low volume specialist Brit GTs and sports one year. Silverstone Classic were thinking of it, but never came off. Guess a lot of punters wouldn't know what they were looking at. Interestingly, according to Gilbern homologation form, the GT is a "4 seater saloon". Mmmm...... |

And, as we were reminded on another thread recently, so was the 911 for a while! I remember in late 80s WRC there was a complicated formula to work out if a car was saloon or GT. The Celica was deemed OK but the Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe wasn't. So the Gallant tank / saloon had be used instead.

I seem to recall Vic Elford driving a Porsche AFN supported 911D as a Grp.5 Saloon in the BSCC in 1969.
Apparently the 911S was not eligible. |

Some of the other listings form the same source are interesting as well. All rather oddly eclectic in a way. The cufflinks might be of interest to someone though (whatever cufflinks are .... anyone know? I seem to remember such things in ancient times ...) |
