Marcus, be wary of fitting a fire extinguisher, apart from the projectile hazard, if the car is burnt out and you haven't used the extingusher, the insurance company may wipe you, sayng that you haven't exercised your duty of mitigation.

The Tool Man should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I Dont think A Fire Extinguisher would have been any good in the case of the VY commodore I proudly watched burn. By the time we'd have got it out of the vehicle someone would have been badly burnt. It went up so quickly there was no time to remove the trailer , it just went with everything else.

I have to say that having owned a CD Vectra since new (1998) and having travelled over 113,000km's, I have only good words to say about it. In 1999 I had a car come off a stop sign right in front of me and after t-boning the other car at 60km/h the Vectra crumpled as designed ($12k worth of damage) saving my wife and I from major injury and after repairs still drove like new. Engine is very torquey for a four and apart from an idle problem when new, hopeless AM radio reception and several attempts to get the dealer to adjust the headlights high enough for country driving it has been a dream, it still has the original clutch and brake pads, cheap motoring!

And before that there was a problem with steering gear fluid sparying around the engine bay and bursting into flames....man. all cars go through recalls, was it the EF'coon that had the big placky tank just under the rear bumper sitting there waiting to explode in a rear end accident?? Where is this thread heading? Terrifying those who have to jump in these cars tomorrow? I wonder sometimes.....
