finally, someone has hit the nail on the head.
what are the chances of prising the series away from Petch control

Sometimes in life you need a leader. Someone with vision and determination. Someone who is prepared to do what needs to be done.
And once the 'what is needing to be done' is done the little mice want a new leader. A soft leader. A leader that can be influenced and moved around.

Those who do not study history are destined to repeat it.

Thus ends the lesson

I doubt he means it quite that literally as ST is a category. He's referring to the fellow who leads them, their 'driving force' me thinks!

Mr Petch would look great wandering around pit lane with a cigar, cane and top hat!

I think I'm with Icarus on this one, you can (and I have) ask questions about a number of things V8ST, but I don’t think you can deny that Mark Petch (and co) have done a pretty spectacular job of getting things up and running. They’ve managed to attract new (and well resourced) team owners to the class, they’ve got the broadcaster excited enough to develop and evolve their coverage and they’ve started to promote and pr the series and try and win fans.

I still believe it’s disappointing and possibly in the long term damaging that the split had to happen, but I also don’t think it’s too hard to understand why Petch and co believed that a split was better than continuing under TMC.

Icarus perhaps a better analogy would be “if you want to bake a cake, you’ve got to break a few eggs”.

If I was NZV8's I would be putting out info on the cars, teams, drivers every week. There is 6 months before the cars are surposed to be hitting the track and in my view it won't happen. However, if they regularily update people on the progress, excite fans with their technology and forget about ST and focus only on their own class then they may turn a skeptic like myself around.

You will have to wait and see if that was the case or not. Now that the issue is the subject of litigation it doesn't really matter who the various factions believe was right and who was wrong. A Judge will make that decision - probably sometime well into next year.

And the lawyers will be the only winners as instead of money going into motorsport it will head to boring boats or whatever the lawyers like.

Ah the singular view. I can see now that I've been remiss in the level of comprehension I've attributed you with.

Go up two posts and take Chapellis point. What IS happening in NZV8 world?
Believe what you will but I'm genuinely interested.

And Supercar Freek is stating the absolute obvious. All of that would be the right thing to do

If you want to sell a cake, tell us how great it is. Don't tell us that everybody elses cake is ****e and anyway they stole my mums recipe

SUMMARY - WHAT IS HAPPENING CURRENTLY IN NZV8 LAND?

Who is Chris? And do you actually have anything to add to this thread Promax (except noise)

Joe - you should build a bridge. Achieve something for yourself why don't you?

MRX are building the cars. This much we know.
Who are the team charged with developing the package to a saleable product?
Who is responsible for assessing parity?
Has a pre production model run with an engine that will be used next year and the new gearbox?
What diff is being used?
Is data logging free or will there be limits on what is allowed?
What (if any) panels will be tin? If composites are used are they chopped strand glass, glass mat or something more exotic?
What rack is used?
Are the old NZV8 dampers going to be used or a newer spec thing?
What is the brake package?
Is it intended to keep the same race format as the season gone or will other options be explored?
Who is signed up so far and in what marque?

yip, thats why i asked the source of the horse. Toyota Japan was always known for exaggerating HP a wee bit.

It quotes the Ford at 486 and the holden at 490,
so obviously to maintain parity the Toyota will be around there somewhere,
which is why I said 480-490,
same with the torque I just quoted the ford and holden,
and apart from that ???

Will it really matter if it has 485 instead of 483 hp?
I dont think the actual real figures will matter as it wont be what the engine can produce, it will be what it is allowed to produce.

Toyota Camry Update.
The MRX team has been flat out building the first of the Camry's.
A, B and C-pilar mounts are been fabricated to mount the door shuts. Front and rear crush frames have been made, with spares. All the alloy panelling ha...s been completed. The new front splitter buck has been finished and ready for the mounld to be taken. The TRD V8 should only be days away from arriving, apon which we will build engine mounts and headers, and the bonnet and roof have been at 'Mike Shaw Fibreglass' getting moulded.
