Surely two commentators are needed anyway. An extra pair of eyes to view the action, an extra immediate view on the proceedings. I might stick with the commentary from ITV if it's only John, despite James Allen. I like John, but I prefer Martin. Obviously I will still watch the SKY coverage. Actually I should probably stay SKY to see what it's like. The preview on ch434 has changed slightly. It now shows a glimpse of the menu screen. It is on about 4 times but only for a second (I taped it and did a bit of pausing to check it out). There are 8 choices (as we already know) -Normal -Super -Track A -Track B -Data -In car -Pit -Highlights Track A and B are the leader and battle down the field views I guess. I can't remember what the difference between Normal and Super is. It's in one of the other threads... Anyway the commentators seem pretty good. A match for ITVs I would say. I wish Martin was with SKY though. |

Head to head IMHO.
Presenter: Matthew Lorenzo v. Jim Rosenthal SKY wins easily! Commentator: John Watson v. James Allen and Martin Brundle Close. SKY would win if Ben was there. However Martin makes up for James. "Just when he needed it he ran out of talent". ITV just. Studio Analysts: Ben Edwards & Perry McCarthy v. Tony Jardine & Mark Blundell Tony is OK (apart from when he touches studio guests!). Ben rocks. Ben beats Tony. Mark beats Perry. I've met both at Le Mans. Mark tried to run me over on a scooter and Perry told a rude story! SKY just. Trackside Reporter: Peter Windsor v. Louise Goodman & Lenny Kravitz SKY wins. Simple really. Random: nobody v. Beverley Turner. What can I say here without being sexist! I suppose ITV wins then because SKY doesn't have anyone in this category. It's close then. I'm still going with the 2 TVs plan and switch the amp. between ITV and SKY sound. Can Bev. make up for the seven extra options of viewing SKY (and the fact that the normal option is better anyway!)? That is the question! |

yeah you really need a double act, you cant do a stand alone commentator - it would lack in emotion and excitment with just one voice - one tone. Murray and Martin had struck that crucial balance of feeding off eachother's emotions.

My head-to-head
Presenter: Matthew Lorenzo v. Jim Rosenthal ITV wins hands down. Commentator: John Watson v. James Allen and Martin Brundle ITV win again. John is better at the BTCC. Studio Analysts: Ben Edwards & Perry McCarthy v. Tony Jardine & Mark Blundell This is close. ITV win just as Mark Blundell had more success than McCarthy did in F1. Trackside Reporter: Peter Windsor v. Louise Goodman & Lenny Kravitz ITV win with Goodman's good looks. Random: nobody v. Beverley Turner. SKY wins this one as Turner is an ugly gal. So pretty much ITV win hands down. |

Luca, where did you get this info? I can't find it anywhere. Not that I doubt you, but I wanted confirmation on the Ben post.
Hak. You are indeed weird. This is meant in the nicest possible way. |

I hope Ben will be a commentator, two commentators are much better IMO, one studio analyst will do along with the presenter.
Sky seems to look like the better package(I just payed the £12), but I have to say I'm not a big fan of Winsor's work, maybe they should do away with him for a nice blonde girl. |

Sky's line up looks a strong contender just wish they would do a season ticket like they do with the football. Strongest part of the line up is no Beverly Turner equivelent that is tempting me to pay £12.
Will have to compare the 2 packages but Sky could have a few of ITV viewers very soon. |

The latest from sky sports!!!
Former world champion Damon Hill will join the F1 Digital + team for the Australian Grand Prix, which will offer F1 fans an unprecedented interactive service for their favourite sport. Hill joins presenter Matthew Lorenzo, commentator John Watson, studio analysts Ben Edwards and Perry McCarthy and trackside reporter Peter Windsor for the opener. Announcing Hill's involvement, Sky Sports producer Charles Balchin said the former Williams driver would help to provide expert analysis for the Albert Park event, which starts the 2002/3 season. I am so disapointed that John 'Whatswrong' is the Sky commentator. His droning voice is like listening to someone reading The Times. Boring.

Am I right in thinking you don't pay until you start to watch the program?
