M56 / A556 J7 - travelling to Oulton Park

For those of you travelling West to Oulton Park please note that the A556 J7 is currently closed - best way to travel is M56 and J10 A49 instead.

There is no information to advise how long this will be closed - but it looks like there is a problem with the bridge so could be some time................

According to BBC traffic website the end date is January 2010......

Apears the recent hoy weather has forced the bridge replacement works to become be a bit more urgent.

BTW for traffic heading M6 south bound, advised diversion is via the M60 to Worsley then M62.

Not necessarily - the HA website says that " A decision on whether to reopen the link will not be taken until the Highways Agency concludes an assessment of the structure which is likely to be in three weeks time."

Or just follow the M56 to Junction 10 then take the A49 southbound.

Ain't that just about what Nadine said in the opening post Mike?
It must be all those booze fuelled weekends at Trac Mon catching up with you.

Please allow extra time - I am doing this journey every day and although weekends will be quieter than the week - everyone else will be thinking that too - and we are just heading into summer holiday time!!!

aye, we normally go M56/A49 route when coming from round Manchester way (usually after work)

i didnt realise there was really a quicker alternative. the only time i've gone a different way was when i had to drop something off in Congleton on the way over then went to Oulton via Winsford.

Also if you travel through Hartford please be aware of road works and restrictions around the Chester road / School lane junction where they are realigining the traffic lights and putting in a left turn lane, Probalby wont cause any probs on Sat morning but may be busier in the evening
