Cleaning the windshield
I was wondering if anyone here has any good advice on the best way to clean the windshield both inside and out. Inside it's so full of grease that it fogs immediately when it starts to rain. Outside (and thanks to all those uncalled windshield cleaners at the traffic lights) is also greased out which means that the windshield wipers don't work as well as they should.
Someone recommended me cleaning the inside with alcohol. Did it, ended up exahusted and it worked only patially. Any suggestions? |

Use a glass cleaner (household cleaning stuff), and plenty of cloth or paper towel - you need to keep this pretty clean. You may need to have a couple of goes at it if it is very dirty, first to remove the bulk & second to get it really clean. Using a windscreen washer additive helps keep the outside clean.

I had my doubts regarding those cleaners because once I had one that read on the label "not no be used in car's windshields".

I don't think I've actually read the label on the Windex I have! I would be surprised though, it is only glass after all - on the outside anyway.

newspaper and vinegar is meant to work well.
alternatively, i just hit it with Rain-X every now and again. aquired a load a while back that had window cleaner stuff in the pack too. last time i did it i did the side windows too, frightening how much crap came off them. Last edited by Bluebottle; 24 May 2005 at 21:45. |
