City Centre Historic Hillclimb Brittany

New 2.7km City Centre Hillclimb in Brittany

26/27/28 August 2011

The city of Saint Brieuc is proud to announce the rebirth of the Coupe Florio last run in July 1927. The event will take place on 26,27 and 28 August and is a joint venture of the Saint Brieuc business association, the FFVE, the Breton old vehicle association (ABVA), the ACO, APPF, and the l’Armor Trophée Automobile. Saint Brieuc is on the N12 about an hour from the ferry ports of Saint Malo or Rosscoff.

Friday 26 August there will be an evening concours d’elegance at the Parc des Promenades presided over by Claude Delagneau the president of the FFVE.

Saturday 27 August there is to be a run out in convoy around the city followed by a display of vehicles in the pedestrian precinct of the old town.

Saturday evening there will be a gala dinner at the sale Robien, the meal is provided by Saint Brieuc most celebrated chef (by reservation).

Sunday 28 August for the speed enthusiast there is an historic regularity hillclimb taking place in the city center. The 2.7km course start is in the old port and follows the river before climbing up hill to the city. The hillclimb is organised by the l’Armor Trophée Automobile, cars will be devided in to three groups: Prewar, Post war (1940-1960) and Sixties/Seventies (1960-1980). More recent 'cars of exception' or cars with an interesting competition history may be considered. Although a regularity event the pace at which you run is up to you.

Saint Brieuc is very keen to promote it’s self, this new event is part of its adventurous plans to demonstrate what the city has to offer to a wider audience. With this in mind great effort has been made to minimise the cost to drivers, only the hillclimb requires an entry fee of just 80 euros, this is to cover the cost of insurance and preparation of the course etc.

For more information, to book hotels and to download entry forms please visit our site www.lacoupeflorio.fr . Drivers are welcome to take part in all elements of the events or just the hillclimb.

Competition licence not required, just a valid drivers licence.
