Hi mercedes, hope you enjoy it here. Are you a McLaren fan by any chance?

Two posts essentially the same, you might want to try and avoid that if you can.

howdy Mercedes, I take it you are talking about Jacques Villenueve that used to drive for BAR and not Gilles or the older Jacques Villenueve

Is he a god though? no he isn't.
Is he a talented driver? Yes he most certainly is.
Was he grossly mismanaged? Yes he most certainly was as well.
Did he believe his way was the right way? Yes he did, however he may well be thinking now that no it wasn't(only he knows that)

He was certainly one of a kind

Kirk has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Easy to write off

Isn't it easy for all the Villeneuve bashers to write him off, considering he hasn't been in the cockpit of a decent car since 1998. Well if F1 upholds it's committment to ban electronic driving aids in 2004, the vulnerabilities of the green and overrated drivers in F1 will be exposed. It will be obvious that Jacques deserves another shot, one of the few real and talented open wheeled drivers around today. Too bad F1 is drowning in it's own politics!

I don't think there is a committment to ban driver aids in '04, except for auto upshifts and launch control.
I do agree that F1 is the poorer without JV however. He stayed loyal to a team that put the knife in him. Tragic!

That's not true! Driving the Williams Mechacrome he finished 5th in the points and podiumed twice. At the Hungaroring he brought it home third without any powersteering on what is a very physically demanding circuit. His cars have only gotten worse since.

Yes, there has been an eerie silence since the rich teams objected and FIA back-tracked. I agree, these drastic changes should not take place in mid-season but we haven't heard boo lately.

I think everyone should want Jacques in a top car agian. For the believers it will be the only just answer. For the haters, well if he blows is in a top car, then you'll no longer have to put up with all the hype from the JV fans after. It's only one year after all. The hater have been getting an ear-full for the last four. If he doesn't get another shot you'll be hearing it for the next twenty!!!

JV in Williams in 05

It's to bad JV won't be racing in 04, I was kinda hoping to see him in a top ride this coming season. I guess F1 isn't a place for true racers anymore, well I guess there’s always the "ICEMAN".

Is it me, or are there a lot of "rookie" forum posters with a JV slant showing up lately? Seems they are coming out of the woodwork. Coincidence, or are they flocking here in droves?

I don't have trouble facing reality; I do have trouble with F1 being void of real and proven racing talent (with the exception of MS, as much as I hate to admit it)

Isn't the changing of the name of this thread kind of an insult to JV fans. Sure it may have some truth, but does it need to be done in such an insensitive manner. Just my opinion

Is JV not open to discussion on this forum??

Yes I am a "rookie" to this forum, but certainly not to f1. If JV is a forbidden topic here, please let me know, if it isn't, then leave my threads alone!!

You may have a point enemy-ace, and I'm sorry if it offends the 'normal' JV fans. However I have waisted a good part of my morning cleaning up "JV is a god" etc threads and it has grown tiresome.

Perhaps when this latest influx of JV trolls has passed, we can start a resonable topic regarding Jacques's future.

To be honest Skam85, I dont recall the Irvine fans having this much trouble with his retirement.
