Ask yourself the question how much did it influence the result at Barcelona.
2nd and 3rd in qualifying, 2nd and 3rd in the race before Ramos spun and could not get the car going again. |

I'm really getting excited here! All the effort being put in these cars, the search for top drivers...
Makes you think they're going for a genuine attack on the diesel armada. Imagine one of 'm coming thrue in third place... |

I'm glad Jos has upgraded to a competitive LMP1 for this years Le Mans, a well deserved chance after last year. Wish we could be there as well, but at least one of us managed to extend the endurance adventure

Verstappen ok but the car written off, why did Aston sign him his record for this sort of thing is not good, he may be fast but his ability to foul things up good and proper should have been a warning to Aston now they must pay the price.

Really? 5 Wins from 5 races in the LMS last year and Le Mans 24 win, begs to differ.

I am biased of course but on the other hand that also means I do have experience of working with Jos directly and right now I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Losing a car under braking like that (on a lap which apparantly was a slow-ish lap anyway) simply doesn't sound like something he would do. I'm not saying he's infallible but braking is something he's very very good at and he rarely makes mistakes doing so.

Can't the tub be repaired in time for Le Mans? Or does that also take too much time?

I think it depends on where the damage is.

just read in race engine magazine that Prodrive have converted the LMP1 V12 to direct injection, it was first raced at barcelona when they won.......I must say this will have been a MAJOR modification to the cylinder head, I dare say a new base casting was needed, also new pistons too......no indications of performance increase were given, but if the Porsche LMP2 results were anything to go by I'd say its a noticable step in performance and drivability, not just peak power.......although has not bridged the gap to diesel levels of torque, as they were a few seconds off the pug pace at spa......hey ho, onwards and upwards.

Interesting, RLM said during Spa that the DI engine hadn't been used yet and would debut at Le Mans.

thats interesting......I'm only going by what I read in the magazine.......but thinking logically, you would want to test and prove a major modification like this way before you race at LeMans......thats the lowest risk and logical approach.......I honestly dont know who is right (RLM or the magazine) but I suspect DI is already running on track.
