McKay has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Vauxhall Roda cars (but still an interesting point)

If you take the Vauxhall badge off of some older vauxhalls, you can see a silhouette of an Opel badge. Dont ask me how i found out. Does anyone have any idea why?

You can buy Vauxhalls with Opel Badges (Euro Vauxhall, and fasionable Vauxhall) as a dealer option. As most of GM's Vauxhall/Opel sales, are Opels, the cars were all built with Opel badges, and when the delaer took delivery they would change to the Vauxhall badge.

It's nice to think they keep the Vauxhall name in this country. So many other things get their names changed to suit European or World markets.

My god I am sounding like my Dad now.

Really? It seems like a real waste of time and resources to have to have to debadge cars before delivery. How many Vauxhall (let's say Vectra) factories are there? Just one? I would have expected one in Germanya and one in the UK at the very least.

The system has been recently changed, to just Vauxhalls are badged Vauxhalls. As recently as 3 years ago you could see transporters going into vauxhall dealerships with Opels on the back. They did try, simply not badging them until they got to the dealer, I'm not sure whether that is still the case.

The UK factories do provide cars for Europe as well.

I worked for a Vauxhall dealership about two years ago.

What they do now is badge them at the factory according to which country they are going to.

I believe Corsas (well two years ago anyway) were mostly built in Germany. If there was a shipment of them coming to the UK, they would be badged Vauxhall whilst still in the factory and Opel if they were going somewhere else.

I think they changed the way they did it because they started putting logos in the interior too.

I remember once when we had a shipment of cars that had Opel plastered all over them inside and out. This didn't go down too well with the management. There were about 50 of them and they had to be retro-fitted with the correct logos because it was cheaper than shipping them back. Even so, it wasted a lot of time and money!
