Marshals Overalls

It's just been reported in the one the magazines that with effect from the 2005 season, the governing body of racing will be providing overalls for each marshal.

They have taken on board the costs incurred by marshals to get themselves kitted out.

Various conditions do apply though.....

"All marshals are expected to be of reasonable proportions and consequently will be provided with a new set of proban overalls on a one-size-fits-all basis."

Only marshals who "Qualify" will be considered.

"Those Marshals who are at the forefront of the event will benefit from this gesture - therefore regretfully, those volunteers who perform duties in the Paddock, Pitlane and Assembly areas will not qualify for the scheme"
"These Marshals will however, be able to purchase the same overalls from ourselves at a discount - approx 20%"

"As with the overalls that were provided a few years ago for the Grand prix, NO personal badges will be allowed to be sewn on then new garments - with exception of the mandatory (Supplied) badge "I'm A Marshal & I Love It"

Order forms will be sent to qualifying officials at the end of November.

And for half a second, I got excited - it was the bit about the 'I'm a marshal and I love it' badge that gave the game away!

Perhaps there should be a scholarship or grant program for those dedicated marshals who are not proportionate to the overalls. There could be a fund established for people to get tummy tucks or their legs and arms shortened or lengthened as necessary to fit the uniform.

I spotted the April Fool Joke in Autosport, it had the heading "Wales to host 'best ever' Rally GB".

Oh how I laughed.

Must admit the New MPV Touring Car looks like a hot prospect.
