Will anyone run Reynards next year?
I read that ASTJ would like to run Lolas next year. Considering how the Reynards ran this year and I haven't heard of any updates for the Reynard teams...

I hope someone does. It would be a shame to lose Reynard, but I can see why people would rather use Lolas. Just remember, Player's proved that the right driver/team combination can make the Reynard work, and Mid-Ohio this year showed that they can be competitive.

Reynard can be competitive on occassion, but teams want to win races or be consistently competitive, and I'm afraid to do that you need a Lola chassis.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a field of Lola's next year with perhaps one or two Reynards only. |

Yeah, I mean, they've been less competitive, but when it comes to putting together a field, I don't think any Reynards will be denied. Also, they haven't been as uncompetitive since they were modified with the 'Rensky' parts.

I agree with Jay, about next year and now. With the new wing the Reynards seem pretty close.
Since we're on the topic (from cart.com): Johanson- “We went the Reynard route for a number of reasons. We had a fairly clear indication that there would be something to accommodate the Reynards and that really was the catalyst for us going that route. We actually had two Lolas ordered from Rahal and we were very much going down the Lola route. There have been comments made to the contrary, but we didn’t do it purely for financial reasons.” Vasser explained his view on this subject. “The idea was to run for the championship,” Jimmy commented. “We believed--the team was told and they told me--that the Reynards were going to get some type of aerodynamic help to make them more competitive because I think CART knew there weren’t enough Lolas to go ’round for everybody. Somebody had to run Reynards. But that break didn’t happen at all and that was bad for me because I based my decision partially on that.” |

It's strange to think that not too many years back, Reynards dominated the grid and there was one lone Lola. It seems like it was driven by Arnd Meier. (I'm not 100% sure on that.)

SO they should all have Lolas except Dale Coyne, and parity up those Reynards to be as quick as the Lolas, regardless of driver

ASTJ ran with the (heavily modified by Forsythe) Reynards because Gerry cut them a "sweetheart" deal on them. This was said by a SPEED announcer so I doubt they made it up.
As long as you have poorly funded teams the Reynards will still be around, and frankly it's a good excuse to have for some ride buyers to explain their lack of performance to their sponsors. |

There won't be Reynards next year, I reckon everyone will be in Lolas.

The Van Diemen deal was called off, reasons unspecified.
