Confession

Had hoped to get away with this, but my conscience is torturing me: Went corporate karting the other night, Bison versus other precast concrete suppliers. On my stint, I saw a gap between two karts that was just narrower than my kart, so naturally I went for it and barged my way through. just in time to see the yellow lights and 'fellow' marshal in the middle of the track.

Yes I should have known better.....

You overtook under a clearly displayed yellow?

I know for a fact that this site is read by senior officials, so now everyone knows. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the nest newsletter, or even raised at some training sessions...

Oh I know... The simple fact is, I told Melanie, She told her Dad, (see Ian Smith's post) and some other marshalling friends..., another member of the team told someone who works here and is also a race marshal etc.... The upshot is, if I didn't confess, I would have been named and shamed anyway. There's a phrase involving a 'rock' and a 'hard place' that springs to mind.....

Would you believe the battery died two laps previously?

To all the people who gave me stick about it at the training day:

I think if you're going to a training day, you will have to carry a bell and shout "unclean...unclean" to stop anyone from being infected by you!

I would like everyone to remember that Neil deserves our sympathy and understanding, not our scorn. Years of marshalling service has exposed him to drivers and he's obviously managed to catch whatever brain disease affects them when they get out on the track.

I think there should be a special quarantine hospital for marshals afflicted like this. And a support group. And a charity. And a celebrity charity concert......

Neil owes me a pint because I "forgot" to announce this at the Donington training day last Sunday.

Yes I think so. It certainly wouldn't do if all the Irish marshals found out before Neil's trip to Mondello in April. They'd all be terribly shocked and horrified........
