So where is the car (80's model) imported by Rick Woods I believe then owned by Peter Barnes and raced in ModProds.

It was then converted to a VC for Moffat at Sandown and Havey/Harrop at Bathurst. It was sold on to Clive Benson Brown and raced in 81 where it was involved in the big shunt at Bathurst. It was converted to VH SS (small valve spec) for 82 and back to VC "HDT" (big valve spec) late in the atcc before returning to VH SS (big valve spec) for Bathurst. It ran 83 as VH SS before being sold to Jim Keogh in 84. It was then driven at Bathurst in 84 by Clift/Stack finishing 19th before being sold as a rolling chassis. This is one that still needs to be found and MIA!...................
I hear tell the current owner (and car) has recently surfaced in Darwin.

I was watching the '72 Hardie 500 the earlier this week and a question came to my mind.

Brock is driving pretty hard on the last lap - he locks a brake into Hell Corner, runs wide at McPhillamy but then gets held up in the esses by a bunch of smaller cars.

Was Brock trying to set the fastest lap of the race on the last lap of the '72 race as he tried unsuccessfully in '78, but famously did in 1979?

Next time I see the vision of that fantastic 1972 race I will take note! It doesnt surprise me though, Brock doing what was to become natural, winning at "his" track trying to "BROCK" the lap record on the last and winning lap in the allmighty Torana XU-1

I haven't got the '72 results handy at the moment, but how far in front of the 2nd placed car (John French's Falcon) was he? Earlier in the race Brick had been given a 1 minute penalty, perhaps he was making sure he kept the gap above 1 minute?

Brock won in 1972, even with the 1 minute penalty, and was credited the (500 Mile) race with 130 laps, and Frenchy was second on 129. I am not sure about the exact distance with timing!

Timing off the Channel Seven telecast, Brock's last lap was 2 minutes and 45 seconds. John French crosses the line one lap, one minute and five seconds behind Brock.

Brock's last lap time is not quick (he qualified in 2:38.2) but I can't find a record his fastest lap of the race. He certainly loses several seconds down the esses to Forrest's Elbow.

Maybe Harry Firth, taking into account the possibility of the ARDC making an lap scoring error, instructed Brock to make sure he had at least 60 seconds over John French at the finish in case the ARDC had made an error and indeed French was on the same lap?

That could be the answer, remembering Firth had been at the centre of a lap-scoring drama with the Geoghegans back in 1967 at the end of the 500.

Perhaps he was after a quick lap on the final lap though, the track was the best it had been all day for a quick time, and as mentioned he had a go at it in '78 and succeeded in '79.

The one he started '04 with (the '03 Bathurst winner) is with Rob Sherrard.

The 'Team Brock' entry, which won the last Nations Cup race, last i heard was at MCR with a For Sale sign in the window.

Just to let you know that I have added Peter Brock to our new 'Driver Files' sub forum, and you guys are, I'm sure, best placed to add some racing career detail to it. It's here:-

Hi Henry and others, to help with "the list" of Brock's car's, the first Ford Sierra RS500 that he used in 1989 is here in the UK owned by a great mate of mine Steve Matthias, this is an ex-Andy Rouse car from the BTCC.

The car was driven at the Ford RS Owners day at Donington Park in 2005 by Andy Rouse.

It was great to see 9 Group "A" sierra's on track together from Goode, Rouse, Eggenberger, Johnson, Brodie and Brooklyn.

Just a couple of points here
the 1972 XU1 is around but it was reshelled many years ago after being rolled at bathurst in about 74 or 75
The 1973 XU1 is the one Paul tate owned and recently sold for $500,000
The two L34's HDT used in 74 are around, but which one is the car Brock drove at bathurst is a bit of a mystery and the owners of the cars both believe they have the car
The 75 was destroyed though rumours suggest whilst it was written off, the car may still exist
The 1977 A9X was sold to Gramme Moore and raced by Fred Gibson and I'm told it exists and is being restored.
The 1978 A9X was Brocks 3rd shell for the 78 season and bcame Harveys car in 1979. Harrop crashed it after brake failure. Jim Shepherd (not team manager John Sheppard) was contracted by Holden to restore the car to the 78 bathurst winning specs, however Holden pulled out and Jim restored the car out of his own money back to the 1978 Brock Richards winning machine, not the 76 harvey car.
The 1979 car was owned by Brock up until 1992 or 93 and sold to a Melbourne guy who onsold it to the Bowdens in 99.

Another one to add to the list. I am currently restoring the Team Brock BMW CSL he drove at Le Mans ( # 46 retired 19 Hours...) with Brian Muir & Jean Claude Audriet in 1976.

Hi Chatters,

Yes I do own the car (much to the disgust of low-life race car collectors out there! (No reference to A9XFAN or Henry here at all)

I constantly see references to 'Steve', don't know where this comes from.

Must be from the same ill-informed that report such things as "assumed identity" of my car to the Victorian Police "Stolen Vehicle Squad". No telling how low they will go to try and discredit me and the car! That accusation has now been addressed and will now progress to the Victoria Police Ombudsman, through the proper channels, fully documented (wasting Police time etc..) before the end of the month. Following that, I can then start on the harrasment charges along with a half a dozen others in the "Group C" community.

Hold onto your hat Terry!!!!!. Better let your mate up North know as well !!!!!!

Remember Glass Houses.

Ok, noted, but let's please not go there again, in here.

When the list is next updated, can we please remove the unidentified 'Steve' and put in Camaroz (or actual name!).
