For you fellow aircraft buffs, this is a keeper. This is the most comprehensive collection of aircraft info that I have ever seen. Want to check out almost any airplane ever built in the World?

Old, new, military, civilian? It's amazing what has been done in airplane design. .

360° images, again.

It’s interesting how you can see so much just by going east and then west, and north an south. This is really neat, and not hard to navigate around the varied and assorted selections for viewing and exploring.

I have seen 360 shoots, but not like this. Look all the way up and all the way down and you don't get any decrease in the shot. You can't even see where the camera equipment is, it's like it's not even there. Use your mouse to move around. It takes practice. ENJOY ! ! !.

"How the West Was Won" in restored three-panel Cinerama.. The web page explains the difficulties with merging the three images, some of the story line and has screenshots to ilustrate the work.

<=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=> <=>
I saw the original "This is Cinerama" in NYC sometime in 1954. You sat facing a stage with drawn curtains and dimmed houselights. A classical violin piece was played followed by some light classical orchestral music.

This was the age of the beginning of High Fidelity recording and it was quite impressive. The orchestral part was then continued using the seven track stereo system with a voiceover describing the system. The curtains parted slightly to a standard movie screen with a b/w image shot from the front car of a roller coaster as it ascended the 1st climb. The audio consisted of the `clack-clack' of the car's wheels, typical of a wooden roller coaster and the musical sound track. Just as the car reached the peak, the curtains opened wide and the three screens lit up in color with the announcement "This is Cinerama!" as the car raced down the track and on thru the complete ride. People in the audience screamed in unison with those `in the back' who were recorded originally and played back from the theater's rear speakers.

There was a sequence where the B-25 flew under the George Washington bridge that connected upper Manhattan to New Jersey. People actually ducked in their seats.

It was quite a travel show and amazed audiences for many years.

What happens when you point the Hubble Space Telescope to a dark, empty place in the sky….?

If you don't pull this up and think about it, you've wasted a most thought provoking, amazing presentation!

Click HERE for a group of photographs taken in 1864 -1865 during the American Civil War. You can click on each one and some type of descriptive caption will appear when you mouse over the picture. Use the `Back' button on your browser to return to the picture page.

Truly fortunate that so many of these have survived. Probably a million wet plate photos were made during the civil war on glass plate. Popular during the war, they lost their appeal afterwards and so many were sold for the glass. Many used in green houses. Over the years the sun caused the images to disappear.

Near the end of the sequence there are portraits of the various generals on both sides as well as a portrait of Abraham Lincoln.

At the end, click on the "Return to main page" link and you will be taken to the Civil War Heritage page with historical information and other photo galleries.

A video tour of the International Space Station. It starts with a CGI of the exterior but then there is a continuous `live' shot with audio commentary explaining the various modules. The tour ends inside the attached space shuttle.

Looks a little crowded up THERE.
