Driver Updates for 2007
The Indy Star have various reports this weekend in their "Pit Pass" section concerning drivers and the 2007 Season:
1. Scott Sharp could leave Fernandez Racing and take his sponsorship with him. He is looking at options, but apparently has not ruled out staying with Fernandez. 2. Super Aguri may not retain Kosuke Matsuura for 2007, but no final decision has been made in that regard. 3. Panther confirmed that Vitor Meira will return as their driver in 2007, but the deal has not been signed yet. They are looking at sponsorship to determine whether or not it will be a multi-year deal. 4. Dario Franchitti is apparently a free agent as well. He is looking at options and may announce something in the near future, but would not hint at what that might be. 5. Buddy Rice also is looking and has been allowed by RLR to explore his options. |

Scott Sharp is getting a little "long in the tooth" and has had an unimpressive year -- I would be surprised if he is in the IRL next year.

from what I've read he's looking at bringing his sponsorship to panther to bring them back to 2 cars.

I've heard similar rumors, drdisque...
Since he has money to race, he will be driving somewhere. BTW...Herta does have his plans finalized, but is not saying anything prior to the announcement of those plans by others involved that he will be driving for.... I expect him to be in the Acura ALMS car that AGR will field next season... I also believe that Dario is a possibility for the other seat in that ride....although he has said that he would prefer to stay in the IRL |
