I would have to say I'm a believer of 'less is more'.
Like a Mk2 Escort RS2000 I once had with a flat front to replace the poly nose, steel wheels instead of alloys and 1300 Ghia badges. There were enough goodies under the bonnet to keep things interesting; a rally cam, sidedraught Webers and a branch manifold. I used to enjoy overtaking people in reasonably high powered cars, and watching for their expression in my mirror! Or a friend of mine who had a Turbo'd 5-speed Mini, all very understated of course. He would delight in running alongside people at 90 mph or so, screaming along in fourth gear, turbo barely on boost, and just when the poor unsuspecting motorist thought this demon Mini was all out of steam, he'd put his foot down and change up a gear! That's when it dawned on them he was probably doing 90 in third!! 'Q cars' we used to call them - all go and very little show. Nowadays it's the other way round - 1300cc and turbo badges! What's the world coming to? |

One of my mates is keen on Mazda's like me and is a very financial mechanic. He installed 13B turbo rotary in a 1996 121 bubble with disc and a 5spd from a RX7. The suspension was lowered and fully worked with 16in wheels and tryes a radical body kit and a matching trim to go with the red and chrome exterior. Move over grannies this is a feral.
