Toejam should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What ever happened to using a bit of common sense, was the driver repeating the line on purpose every lap to gain an advantage for example... Lots of 4wo I've seen are just from a driver running wide and ultimately penalising them selves.

If they tighten up on it this much we should just get spike strips installed on the outer edge of the curb, takes out any arguments and ruins their race either way.

Let's not lose common sense in all this when applying the current or any future version of the track limits rule. There are many reasons why a car may leave the circuit and the purpose of the regulation is to permit action to be taken against those who gain an unfair advantage. Context is everything and unfortunately this season there have been examples of Observers, or those being asked to carry out this function, not reporting the whole story (admittedly it's not easy when there's a lot going on) or not being able to distinguish between different scenarios such as the following (not intended to be a full or definitive list):

1) a car may go off in order to set a better time in qualifying, catch/overtake the car in front or avoid being caught/overtaken - THIS IS BAD.

2) a car may go off due to poor driver skills and/or loss of control - USUALLY NO ADVANTAGE IS GAINED.

3) a car may be forced off by another car - IMHO the rule we are discussing applies to a car on its own or in a simple 'train' and there are other rules to cover multi-car situations.

4) a car may go off deliberately, in avoidance or get out of the way - USUALLY NO ADVANTAGE IS GAINED (more often than not time is lost) and IMHO this is not to be discouraged.

As with many things, training and experience are required to make them work.

opening a here but will the TOCA BTCC clerks apply the rules as according to btcc drivers the track limits only end when you hit something hard like a tyrewall

can just imagine the fun at posts 2, 3,4 and 6 at knockhill where running wide is the norm and you report the cars that didnt run wide
