Driver Line-up

Was going to post in the season 4 thread but we might as well keep a separate thread for driver news/speculation only.

The following is just off the top of my head based on what I remember reading, no guarantee of any accuracy whatsoever!
Bold means confirmed
Normal font means likely, e.g. driver has tested the car or stated intent to drive.
Italics is pure speculation/guesswork.
Order is in likeliness, and lead driver before second driver.

Please update the list with whatever you know.

Isn't Morad Canadian ? Did he not drive for Canada last season? can he swop nationalities once driven for another country? seems odd!

Just going to add:

FRA - Olivier Panis has said he wants to test the car, but don't know if that will happen

IRL - I didn't know Carroll was confirmed?

ITA - there was that rumour about Valentino Rossi flying around, but I doubt it now Mugello is gone from the schedule

KOR - Hung-Sak Mun was listed as the squad's back-up driver on A1GP.com, but has since been removed - not sure what's going on there

MEX - I have heard rumours that David Martinez and Esteban Gutierrez will drive, but nothing solid

USA - there is a rumour about Andretti Green taking over the team, and using Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti

I may be jumping the gun on Adam Carroll but I read an interview where he said he is concentrating on A1GP in the short term.

I hope he does return... really cool driver, quick and aggressive... and one of only a few who tried any overtaking moves at brands Hatch in May

Well Panis has said that he wants to test and there are rumours about Rossi, so 2 of those could come true

I bumped into Robbie Kerr in the Paddock at Silverstone this weekend. I asked him if he was going to be in A1GP, but he didn't give much away. His words were basically "hopefully, will have to wait and see".

Well, Robbie wouldn't be a bad choice because of his experience... no offence to Robbie, though, but I would like to see someone with more recent experience of GP2 or WSR, like Ben Hanley or James Walker (if either is available), for instance. Maybe James Rossiter, ex-Super Aguri F1 tester now in ALMS, could drive. Maybe even Anthony Davidson could be persuaded to drive, although I think he is 100% focused on being back in F1. We'll see.

I think Robbie deserves some credit. I get the feeling he's so integrated with the team that without him they wouldn't function properly. I don't think he's a great driver and I definitely don't think he needs to be in the driver seat, but his presence on the team I think definitely helps them. I think he's so committed to the team's success.

I certainly wouldn't want our hopes to rest with Walker.

Have not heard of Lotterer for a few years now. Is this just speculation or have you read something somewhere? Other rumours suggest Germany are not coming back.

That would be most unfortunate if Willi decides to bail out. Was Ammermueller a bit too much?

Thats a blunt statement about James, he was leading his last race under extreme pressure and got a punture, get the full story before making wide sweeping statements..............he's good and up to speed in the class of car

Germany's flag was on the latest test car, whereas Czech Republic's was not - why would Germany's be on there if they had pulled out?

André Lotterer is driving, successfully, in the Japanese Super GT series for some years now.
Loic Duval, Richard Lyons and Ralf Firman are some of his regular adversaries there.

Would make sense to me. (as would Michael Krumm)

I don't base the opinion on one race though, being realistic he's rarely had consistent results in F3 or WSbR. I do appreciate he doesn't have the karting experience of his rivals, but I just think there are plenty of safer bets to deliver for Team GBR.

I heard it in the A1 GP Factory at Silverstone.Already last year at Brands-Hatch people were saying that Johnny would not be back, it seems that Van der Drift will drive all season.Regarding Germany, I'm pretty sur that they won't be back this year.

Yes that's right, Team Netherlands confirmed that Jeroen Bleekemolen and Robert Doornbos will share driving duties this year.
Team India confirmed Karthikeyan, Sureshwaren and Ebrahim

Ebrahim will count as a rookie they say, so the new rookie rules DON'T apply to GP2 Asia then, just the main series... unless they forgot his GP2 Asia experience .

Suppose thats what you get for finishing second two years in a row, however just a thought who will drive if vanderdrift does not clean up the formula masters this week end by enough points to win overall, because the last round clashes with the firdt round of A1GP
