I have three of his last cars. He has been to the workshop here a lot lately, I am helping him rebuild one for a comeback! The last FF's he did were OX6's, they ran Aurigas...Don't know where the Scholar came from. I have the chassis he broke his neck in at the Festival, plus two spares he built in case! Also all the suspension, moulds etc. They were the 'long nose' red ones. I've been hunting around trying to find photographs of them if anyone has any? It would have been around 90, 91, 92 time.

Sly fox never told me that!

Would have been the end of 1993 or beginning of 1994, guess it was 1993 Festvial that he broke his neck

Can't find an entry list for the 1994 festival but the engine Frank Bradley used is the same one. Guess you should know but would have bet my life it was a Scholar!.....guess I'd be dead!

Maybe Redracer77 could collect it from there at his next business meeting and post it to Sarah on his return to the UK via Lumbago, Gingangooley and Milton Keynes.

Alan, as this is a "best looking FF1600 thread", what about the Swift SC46?
It is just like the SC92 you used to own [and are now buying back] but with only two corners on it,, so is now only half the car it was.

Diz there is no need to say it as the SC92 FF is the best looking car but since you have I will agree.

I'm with Andrew on this one. The PRS is the best. Mind you i'm biased as i've had one for over 20 years. Much improved by adding an extra Reynard style roll roop. The original ones had a habit of breaking when they were needed the most!

Hi Alan! Long time no see (since those Eckard Design days!)
Have you any photos of the colour scheme of your car?
I remember you painted yourself driving it on the cockpit side as a cut-away.

The best looking car ever is the Roni designed, built and raced by Ron Whittaker!

The PRS RH02 was probably nicer looking than the RH01, they refined the shape a bit. Although the paint job makes a difference, the lime green thing that Austin Kinsella and Steve Pearce drove in the 80's looked like an Avacado on wheels. Sorry fellas! http://tentenths.com/forum/newreply....e=1&p=1425763#

Was'nt there a Roni F3 or Atlantic car as well?

As a kid I remember being a spectator at Brands for the very first Formula Ford race in 1967 and like many of us here have seen many hundreds of FF races since. I also attended most of the Festivals, including the early Snetterton ones. So I reckon I could have seen virtually every type of FF model ever built - I'm not including Zetecs here - they are not proper FF's IMO!

For me, the simple elegant lines of the 1978 PRS RH01. The car pictured below is the works car of Bernard Devaney - the 'gofer' to this car at the time one Trevor Carlin, as his uncle founded PRS! I was the Royale 'gofer' same year.

So, what's yours?

Photo I took at Silverstone August '78

Here at Oulton, also '78, the year the Irish took over in FF, Devaney leading Roe, Acheson, McClelland and Templeton. Photo thanks to Autosport.
Have you seen the front-rad PRS RH01/2's? They are quite common in the USA. Very good looking cars IMHO.

One of the problems with the original PRS's was they attached the radiators between the radius arms for the rear suspension. If you had a heavy impact from behind or went in backwards the rear wheel would damage the radiator. We moved ours to each side of the cockpit and saved a fortune. looked nicer too in a little aluminium pod. The last PRS's built before they went down the pan were slick looking things which had front radiators although, i've not seen one around since the mid 80's. Blimey i'm becoming a PRS anorak!

Just love that Outon Park pic. All great drivers line astern in typical late 70 FF1600 action. This if i remember was Kennys tripple FF1600 championship year in the RMC Royale RP24. Looked great back then but examining David Lesleys more closely recently i was supprised how small it looks today. Still fantastic Formula Ford days.

I thought that as well. I think David Leslie was sitting high up in the car.
They were fantastic Formula Ford days. I was marshaling then, mainly at Silverstone, and the FF's were unreal. The irish invasion had been was in full swing for a while (Daly, Devaney, Acheson, Roe and the rest) and it really added spice to the racing. Sometimes I couldn't believe what they did - and also got away with! - Happy days.
