2014 R17 USA - Results

Shall we rename Austin ... Penaltyville

Lets start with Caterham and Marusia, as both were officially given a pass to miss the race, however on review I have decided that they are each penalised 10 constructor points the equivalent of 2 Technical DNFs.
I believe this to be fair as in the fantasy competition negative points are possible.

Their Drivers remain active in the fantasy competition, receiving 0pts.

In light of the withdrawals it meant that Ferrari were powering only 2 teams. While this situation continues the Engine points will be based on the first 2 cars of different constructor rather than 3 as it has been so far this season.

There as a revised qually, the fantasy qually points were awarded to the reduced number of Q2 runners and then Q3 in the usual way. Only the 1 Bonus point was awarded in the Engine category as Ferrari (as unlikely as it would have been) couldn't have achieved the 3 different constructors in Q3 bonus.

Vettel took a whole new set of Power Unit components for which the FIA regs allow a pitlane start. For the fantasy competition I have given vettel the 6th component 10 place grid drop penalty served in full on this race that is a 20 point penalty for him and also 10 points for Red Bull.

Kvyat took a 7th ICE this instigates a 10 place Drop, however in accordance with the Rules this has been split into 3 places and a 6 point penalty and 3 constructors points for Toro Rosso. That means carrying forward Kvyat faces upto 7 places and 14 points penalty in Brazil.Toro Rosso likewise carry upto 7 penalty points into Brazil

For each of the above Renault have been penalised 20 points at this event.

Button, required an out of sequence Gearbox and so is penalised 5 grid places, that 10 penalty points with McLaren being penalised 5 points.

Maldonado had an in-race time penalty and Vergne had a post race time penalty. Both of these are reflected in the results.

There was 1 technical DNF in Hulkenberg, this results in a 5 point penalty for Force India.

THe US results...
There was some interesting scoring through the field, though it made little difference to the the current overlall leader Acoholics Racing Team as they struck up their 6th round win of the season with 85 points. Only one point behind was Little Hotels (84pts) with Tuk Tuk Racing in 3rd with 82 points.

In the Overall as Suggested Alocholics Team Racing (1314pts) continue to lead over Tuk Tuk Racing (1268 pts) by 46 points. A further 109 points back takes us to 3rd placed Racing for Sealand on 1159 points.

Substitutions are still available if you want to try a late change going into Brazil and Abu Dhabi, your first change is still free and subsequent changes cost 20 points.
