F3 Euroseries - Pau!

What the heck, I'll open an EF3 thread this time and miss everything as an introduction except the weekend schedule. But please, add on.

Timetable
30/05/2008 10:30 hrs free practice
30/05/2008 15:00 hrs free practice 2
31/05/2008 09:45 hrs qualifying race 1
31/05/2008 14:00 hrs race 1
01/06/2008 17:00 hrs race 2

Oh, and a lap of the circuit (courtesy BF3 I take it...dunno). The circuits a little hairy.

Yesterday, I was talking with Dani Campos about the race, and he hopes to be in the first 15 positions, as Hockenheim. Secure that only finishing the race already is a good result. I think there will be a lot of retirements
It seems to be that the rain could be present. There is 60% posibilities of rain all weekend. So, it could be more difficult for the drivers. Besides, few drivers has run in this circuit, except I think Clairay and somebody more.

Wickens will make debut with F3, it isn't? I think he will not have many problems. He already has run with many cars, and urban circuits(A1gp, ws, atlantics ...).

good to remember that British F3 raced there few years ago as well as French Formula Renault so i think there will be some drivers experienced

Was not Campos racing there last year with Formula Master?

No, that is Oliver Campos Hull, this is Daniel. They are probably related, but not the same.

Didn't British F3 have a race at Pau last year. Shouldn't do Breen and Bird harm, since the F3 Euroseries were not there last season, I don't think a lot of the other drivers from the current grid has raced there, apart from the French guys perhaps.

agree no much drivers will know the track then ... from what i red somewhere else some drivers (Bianchi,Mortara, lancester and Mailleux) where racing last week end during the historic Pau Grand Prix

Only Formula Master was racing last year in Pau and will be back this season.

It will be interesting to compare the lap time between F3 Euroseries and Formula Master

Data and voice communication back to the pits, or just data? Seems a little harsh.

Everyone has to have a first time out so, why not Pau...yikes!

Here's a story that should bring a smile to your face, L2LO!

They are right about Signature being Pau specialists, too, so Rob could upset the form book on his début. It may depend on how good the VW engine is around the streets.

I have followed the second sesion, and I see very strong Vietoris and Vernay, especially. They have been very fast all time, with few laps already they was in top.
Dani Clos has done his best time at penultimate lap, so I think that he didn't put new tyres to practise the qualy. In fact, he always reserves the new tyres for the qualy.
I'm sure that Vietoris put new tyres, so this very good lap.
Good to see other time Lancaster on top, after his difficult start at championship
Jakes has had some problem, because he only has done 7 laps if I don't remember badly.

Of Hulkenberg (3º) to Van der Zande (21º), only there is 0.5 second. The qualifying will be interesting.

Unsurprising really though; I expect to get Hulkenburg to get the majority of poles this year. But maybe not this race! Vietoris and Mortara both look really strong. Mortara is quite the surprise of this year. From last year I knew he was fast, but not a title contender.

I'm sorry, I don't see the point of Mr. Wickens racing in F3. Wouldn't it have been better for Red Bull to a) put more faith in the driver they booted out or b) give someone a decent career break? And Hülkenberg really needs to win this year, anything else would be quite a failure.

As far as I can work out, I think Jakes is on pole alongside Mortara. Seems qualifying was split in two for Pau, so they've adopted the sort of system that Wolrld Series used last year.

Maki 3rd, Hulkenberg 4th, Mailleux 5th, Vietoris 6th, Clairay 7th, Philippe 8th, Vernay 9th and Gotz 10th. Good for VW

30 cars on that street course in itself is pretty cool. Good luck boys. A wet track for some of qualifying this morning, maybe again this afternoon.

It might be cool, except the live timing seems to have frozen with 25m 05s of the first race to go. Never mind, I'm not that interested.

Correction: now it's all over. Well done, James Jakes!

Did really only 10 cars finish the race? Looks like chaos. Well done to Prema from the back now 1st and 3rd for race two. And of course good job by James Jakes. Good run after two dissapointing weekends.

Amazing, crazy, beautiful race. Only have finished 10 drivers. A lot of accidents. In every lap, somebody out. I think that in two times safety car appeared.
Well done James Jakes and Mortara. Great overtake from Lancaster to Mailleux. I'm a little sad from Campos, because he was 11º and he could finished in top five. Bad luck.
I have had the luck to see the race in live ( I don't known if you can see F3 euroseries on Tv, but in Spain not) so, maybe tomorrow I also could see the second race. If I can, I'll say you how see it.
Tomorrow, Van der Zande pole (as Hockenheim), 2n Klein (very good race) and 3º Clos, who started in 27º and finished 6º. Great race, I'm very happy.

Waiting for WTCC quali to start, and yep apparently it was only 10 cars finishing, quote the commentator "they left their brains in the pitlane"...... Seems to be lots of barrier repairs etc going on now!
