Unlucky Olivier

I just thought I'd say I feel really sorry for Olivier Panis. He was well on his way for points, did some great overtaking and was generally on a charge, and then his car packed up. Such a shame

Unlucky Cirstiano too... He's been on Olivier's pace all weekend, but had to start the race in his T-car from the pitlane, only to have a fuel pressure problem that meant they had to keep his tanks close to full for it to pick up properly and that his car was dead slow unable to overtake.

Unlucky Jacques too... didn't even start.

Unlucky DC too...he probably would have won had his engine not gone.

Michael and Giancarlo just up though...

I did feel sorry for Olivier.

Jay, i don't think the Totoya tanks needed to be nearly full, but have atleast 20 litres of fuel in them to be able to pick up(??)

Several unlucky people this time around but thats racing. Hadn't Toyota been having fuel pickup problems all weekend or was that someone else?

I'm sure Toyota will bounce back, they've got a good car: That's the way life goes sometimes.

Yeah, Panis was unlucky but Da Matta perhaps was more so. He did a great job in qualifying in the T-Car and then fought back really well in the race after having to start in the pits. Toyota have to get the reliability going because they do have the speed.

I think the tires too had a huge factor in the speed and consistency of the cars. Toyota does seem to have good speed. They were pretty light on fuel but still they did well.

It seemed like Panis was easily keeping up with Rubens. TOYOTA will get it rigfht soon. Its gratifying to see this talented driver on the verge of some good results having a car worthy of his talents. GO OLIVIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Panis was amoungst the first to pit for fuel on lap 12. The people he was racing with early, Barrichello lap 22, and Button lap 17, had quite a bit more fuel on board so I am not yet convinced about Toyota's pace. Also, Barrichello and Button were on Bridgestones which I don't think were as good as the Michelins in the heat.

DaMatta and Panis both retired with fuel pressure problems which Panis described as simliar to what happened in Melbourne so it seems they may have a problem on their hands.

It is a bummer for Olivier and DaMatta. I would like to see both of them do well.

Is'nt that the problem Webber had also?

Tough break for Olivia, and I agree with EERO, they will be up there soon.

I think Toyota have showed more immediate potential early this eyar than they did last year - the drivers are on form, Cristiano is doing extremely well to challenge Olivier (3/1000s of a second apart ont he same strategy in qualifying), but the 3 stop strategy explains why they were ahead of guys like JV and Fisichella on the grid.

I was so miffed when Panis retired. Sat in my bedroom saying lots of words that would turn the 10-10ths autocensor purple. He was absolutely flying up until that point and it was so disappointing to see him hurtle past the car and promptly stop

I just hope Toyota sort their problem out soon. They've got a good car, a couple of good drivers but too many gremlins.
