Dyson to Switch to LMP2 with Porsches???
Heard on the Speed Report last night that Robin Miller is reporting that Dyson will field two Porsche Spyder RS Evos in LMP2 next season.

Penske vs Dyson; Next season it will be clear at which level Dyson operates.
I think Lola isn't happy with this news. |

Comments from their camp would lead one to believe that it is the Lola that they far prefer so far. |

An additional reason I've heard regarding the Courage was that, and I'll quote, not that it will make much more sense, "it came apart easier". The real reasons certainly seem to be more in line with having a stable well proven chassis behind the engine developments (Lola) with a much less proven chassis provided by a manufacturer who certainly wouldn't say no to some additional development.

They are running 2 Courages and only 1 Lola and they plan to further develop the LC75 chassis (responsability of Highcroft).
Perhaps the decision on the preferred chassis will only be made at the end of 2007. |

Ummm NO. There will be NO preferred chassis at the end of 07'. They are supposed to build their own. This is about learning. The one word so far that I've heard from their camp describing the Courage's has been... "garbage". |

IIRC they chose the Lola for Fernandez to have a stable, proven chassis to be able to focus more on engine development. The Courage is going to be for testing chassis development, as has been mentioned. It doesn't seem to me that they have a preferred chassis - only interim solutions ahead of an upcoming factory chassis.
EDIT: as Fogelhund more eloquently articulated while I was typing |

Just concerning Acura : Their president told that the choice was made in order to have a known package (Lola) and a development package (Courage) which will be changed in a real Acura...
People who attended the tests say that both chassis are fast and that some more fine tuning is needed to have the ideal integration. |

We should perhaps steer clear of the rules discussion as it is going on in many other threads.
It is interesting that Dyson have changed classes. I didn't see coming, but perhaps it shouldn't surprise with their history. They have got their hands on a great car. I'm glad they are one of the first to get a customer car. When will they get it? |

Well I did kinda see this one. Where does Dyson have all their ALMS wins, with the exception of 3, they're all in the LMP2( or LMP675 at the time). They feel that the Lola LMP cars are junk right now, and they want to win races, at least in class.

Now with that said, I do recall some people thinking that Dyson could run a RS Spyder when the program was announced. Mainly due to their past connection with Porsche. |

Another year developing the Lola followed by a Championship challenge in 2008, or a P2 Championship challenge in '07-'08, Porsche P1 in 2009/10. |

One more thought, I can't wait to see the RS Spyder in Dyson racing white and blue. That should be a looker!
