it would be a shame if Australia lost the ASTC. I know many people enjoy watching and racing in it.

I just read that Peter Hills is going to race in the 2001/2002 ASTC after all - I thought he said he was quitting motorsport because of the way he was treated over the drug test thing? Oh well, good to see another driver committing to the series.

He will be racing a two-car Mondeo team with Sam Dale.

Shazza, firstly, a big warm welcome to Ten-Tenths! You'll like it here

Regarding Peter Hills, his decision will hopefully further convince TOCA to persist with this year's championship. I certainly hope that they can survive.

Great news, but will the mondeo's be any better than last year, it let him down on a few occasions, nevertheless great news, all we need now is for some other teams to announce a committment to the series, hopefully with Super Tourers, not those silly TOCA Tourers.

Welcome as well Shazza.

I thought I read that Peter Hills was planning to race one ST Mondeo and hopefully two SP cars. The latter depend on manufacturer support. That piece of news is listed as the first screen on his homepage.

With Morris out of the series, Peter Hills should have a better chance against the 155 of David Auger and the Vectra?

I think that his intention to run a SP car is newly acquired for '01?

I'm not quite sure if he will build a SP car based on the Mondeo? The Focus sedan sounds more likely? The Mondeo has gotten quite big??

Ah kmchow- it aint going to happen, that is just what happens when you don'tupdate your website in 18 months... SP was dead and buried before it ever happened because nobody would seriously commit to it....thats why TOCA Touring Cars will struggle- whats the point of building a car if there are only half a dozen cars in the series, and it could fold at any time?

The championship is gathering pace though. With 3 Mondeo's(how good is thus), Leabater and mybe a 2nd car, Searle, Auger, McGill maybe, Miller and maybe a 2nd Camry, then maybe the Hi Tech boys, plus the rest who may just turn, this should be one to remeber. To right crack the champagne and the Burbon and the coke. So are you peoples gunna get out to a round of the ASTC Championship? it should be good.

Sensational to see you so excited DRT! Will you be going to Lakeside? I know I'll be there, but its probably only because I'm getting paid to go...

Crash, why you getting paid to go there.

I think DRT is being a bit optimistic on the excitement side, but some of the competitors seem reasonable. It says on TOCA's webpage that Leabeater is getting another car to lease to another driver (probably the other Hyundai), and i don't think Miller bought that 2nd Camry to drive in just 2 rounds. What does that make, 6, plus some FTs, oooh yeah, gonna be one to remember.

Racer69, I believe you are mistaken about the no. of cars. 3 Fords, Auger, Leabeater (he's got a new transporter and maybe a 2nd car), Searle, Miller and maybe a 2nd car, Con Toparis name was thrown around last season, Adderton?, Ron Searle?, Neil Bates even maybe?
I've been talking to Claude Elias who is in need of sponsors , so if you can help or now of anyone who can help, give me or Mr Elias an email.
BIG NEWS : JIMBO CORNISH IN THE HENDO HI TECH VECTRA, YEP , WOAH, THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!! but whats hendo gunna drive
I am trying to go the Round 1 at Lakeside, however I live in NSW , so that may be a big task, but even if I'm not there I'll be there in spirit. I will be defineltly going to Round 2 at Oran Park.
Catchya there
DNQ, you legend, well done for going to round 1.

What, Jim Cornish is racing? Wow! I can see an extra couple of people turning up to the meeting now, probably his mum and dad!

Which cars do you propose Adderton, Bates and Searle drive?

Leabeater has a new transporter? Isn't a removalist and his transporter was his work truck?

None the less, we now have 8 cars, plus the future tourers. But how many of them will we see north of the border this year? Last year none of them made the trip, and now that there's 2 rounds up here, they'd better pull their fingers out...

Maybe Bates or Adderton for the 2nd Toyota, unkikely though. Luke Searle in the SAE BMW 320i. Yep, Cornish is racing in the Vectra Henderson ran last year.

Anyone have a definate entry list?

I think we all have to launch a campaign to get evry single Super Tourer in the land in the championship. With only a few weeks to go we must send out the CALLING ALL CARS! message and get all the idle BMWs, Toyota Carinas, both Camry's, all Cavaliers and are there any other Vectra's (?), Primeras and all the Peugeots committed to the series.
And what about acrs that are sitting in Asia doing nothing ? Asia is noe Super Production. Why don't TOCA encourage evryone in Asia who's got a Super Tourer to come to Australia and race. Let's face it, the cars over there are the same age as the cars here in Australia.

And wehere do the Bates and Adderton rumours come from?

I'm sure everyone knows that the championship is on, and they would all have their reasons for not running.... too expensive, not enough sponsorship going around, they can't be bothered getting screwed over by the TV package again...
