Serious note - I thought the glass bit on the nose wasn't going to be on the Type-R? (see link)

That's going to get spilt on the road quite often!

The Civic. It's a truly ugly car anyway, but it looks freakish in Orange!

The Type R didn't homologate 'cos it's a 3 door so TD used the 2.0S to base their car on. (I think)

Walking throught the TD garage on media day, i spotted a box with carbon fibre grills in, so i guess the glass nose panel was just for medis shots.

Hi there,

The glass part of the grill was actually missing from the car later in the day.

Here is a shot I took of the car as it was loaded on the truck: -

Im pretty sure ir ead on the BTCC webbie that they got specail permisiion to use the Type-R that only has 3-doors, because they wanted to use the engine from it, i think it was very similar to the Integra Type-R engine, i think the production models use the same engines.

I could be wrong here, but isn't the engine from the 2.0 Type-S a detuned Type-R unit anyway? Would it take much for it to get up to Type-R standard...?

I have to admit the Civic is perhaps not at its best in orange, but I do love the look of the car - it seems quite BTC-spec looking still to me though.

Also, I think the front-end piece is perspex rather than glass - seems silly having a glass front-end on a road car let alone a racer.

I think it's the Type S with the Type R engine? The Civic is a great looking road car IMO, but the livery they've given it doesn't do the shape of the car justice

I'm really not all that keen on the seeming popularity of orange cars now in motorsport, reminds me of our old 1970's kitchen.

Nope, the new Type S is non Type R three doors. The old Civic may have had a five door Type S but the new one doesn't

I'm confused with my R's and S's here!

The actual car is a 5 door Civic, whether it's a Type S I don't know, but the engine is from a Type R.

The touring car will be something like a 1.8 Civic SE with a CTR engine

When they say they've been working 7 day weeks since Christmas - was a lot of that time taken by them battering the thing with the ugly stick?

The best thing about the Outspan livery on the TD cars is that everyone can see them immediately - on TV, from trackside, whatever

the livery designer (M Neal??) has done a great job

it won't be another anonymous red/blue thing

Well I think its false advertising, when I see that orange I think "Racing For Holland", "Spyker", SEAT Team Holland, etc. Thats the Dutch colour, damnit!
