750 MC

Just a thank you to Peter and everyone else at the 750 MC. The postman just delivered the Christmas card / availability form. Just nice to see a club going the extra mile ! ( That might open a can of worms ! )

There are less meetings in 2012, which has been caused by a reduction in the number of races scheduled for most of their championships. I think it is an attempt to maintain grid sizes, which if it works won't be a bad thing.

Merry Xmas everyone
Yes there are less meetings which replects action necessary during recession. Also Autosport show stand (7430 hall 7) is a bit smaller. Hope we will continue to give you bigger grids.

Card was same picture as we couldn't beat picture of Pete covered in snow. If anyone has a pic of him completely burried let me know.

Hope to make all meetings but am scheduled for 2 hip ops so will be out of action for 8 weeks at a time.

Sorry about Pembrey and Oulton - still we had things last year that changed venues so, if Donington get in a mess again we could be back anywhere

Pete,

Good luck with the operations. All the best for 2012.

Once again, I won't be volunteering in advance, but hope I'll be able to show up to work on occasion - especially FStudent!

Next years 750MC meetings

These are now shown on the 750MC website. I only looked at Cadwell Park in May........but that looks packed with the usual series over two days. Brought a smile to my gnarled visage after Xmas excesses!
Points of interest ,as this club is continually innovating and improving, a new race series for the older Stock Hatches and a a new "catch all" series for kit cars of all sorts .
So , good news all round! How many sleeps is that until mid May?

I am not sure I would agree with improving... I think the 2012 calendar is awful and is the reason I am selling my race car and leaving the 750MC... We have gone from having the 14 races over 10 race meetings at 9 tracks in 2011 to having the 14 races over only 7 meetings at only 6 tracks in 2012.

Tough times, Benny. Better for the club to have fewer meetings featuring all of the well-supported categories, than running more events that are not financially viable.

No Oulton meeting but two meetings at Donnington, 3 at Siverstone, are they trying to tell us something? Despite always getting a good turnout of marshalls for this meeting at Oulton.

Perhaps that's what they're trying to tell us, they can't afford all the tickets for the marshals . Last 750 Oulton meeting I was at there were about twice as many marshals as competitors.

As most of the 750MC meetings next year look to be 2 day affairs, I'm guessing track economics have played a part in no trip to Oulton next year for them.

Unfortunately it appears to be a similar story with the provisional timetable for the Mazda series. At the moment there is no visit to Oulton scheduled with again a 2 day meeting at Anglesey on their timetable. This again appears to be based on not being able to manage to get everything run on a single day with an increase in the number of categories they are running.

Yeah but I do not think it really is cheaper having just those double headers...

Firstly, the drivers only get 75% of the season that they did in 2011 as 2 rounds normally gives 2 qualifyings and 2 races but with these double headers they will just get 1 qualy and 2 races.

Secondly, drivers stand to lose a lot more money if they have car troubles, accidents, engine blowups etc if they have problems on test day or the first day of the meeting as they miss the later sessions of the weekends that they have already paid for...

Hire drivers also have to pay for more days hire on the cars for the amount of track time that they get so people are less likely to do one offs, etc I feel.

Anyway, I know for a fact its why I am leaving the club so I guess we will just see at the end of the year what the numbers/entires have done.
