That is a lovely thought but it will probably go down too well with MSV. As I said, it is a novice day and there will be non marshals there too.

Ian Briggs should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
So long as the driver has a marshals number OP have been pretty relaxed about what cars are there, so long as they are driven safely, including Landrovers....

But the question was that someone offer fast laps in a race car. We have to remember that these days are offered to marshals as a thank you and we have to be watchful that we don't do anything to spoil future events.

Hot rides

The last thing I would want to do would be spoil it for the future. As well as being a racer, I am, as Ian Briggs knows, also a marshal. Have fun everyone.....Might bring my RS500 and just pootle round as a marshal!

Mark Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We used to have cars doing fast laps for the marshals at quite a lot of the first marshals days at various circuits and as far as I could tell it was always well received and went off without incidents. The MX5 team came to quite a lot and surprised everyone as to how fast those cars actually go! If anyone wants to come out in my 172 thats pretty rapid and is fully sorted for trackdays now. Of course I'll be mindful of any novices out there as always.

Just seen this note on the club msv website for the oulton park track day (its not on the others though)
'Please note: our Novice Only Trackdays are for drivers who have attended a maximum of three trackdays before. If you are an experienced driver please do not book into this event as you will not be permitted to take part and will not be offered a refund on your booking.

Race / track cars are also not permitted on Novice Only Trackdays. '

Hmmm, in that case I'll leave the Sierra RS500 Cosworth race car to play in the CNC Heads Championship.

Not a Novice Trackday

Hi Anna,

The Oulton Trackday on 20th is an open Pit lane not a novice only trackday
The Novice only is on 27th Jan
Check the MSV Trackday calendar

The 90 might be a handful at full chat! The gentle aroma of Tesco's finest chip oil wafting across the circuit!!

As Stephen says, keep trying, they have had a reserve list in previous years. There are normally a few people watching, get hold of a lid and i will be delighted to show you a high level view of the track, with the exellent smell of frying burgers

Last year there were some free spaces on the day. I 'heard' this was because not as many (non-marshals) turned up for the novice trackday as MSV had estimated. I'm not saying it will be the case this year but i would bring your helmet just in case!

I doesn't really matter what I go in, if your in the 90 I am going to look mega quick!

Please stay away from me on track though as whenever we are together there tends to be a big accident.

Am booked for Snetterton. According to their web site this is not a novice day so will be taking my new trackday car. It is a BMW 325 and is a real flyer. If anyone wants a trip round you are most welcome.
