More meaningful this year?
With the use of a spec engine and a freeze on chassis development for the next 3 years, do you think a race win and/or a championship win is more meaningful this year? Everyone is more or less on a level playing field. No big engine differences to blame or hide behind?

Due to some of CART's talent leaving I'd say that the spec engine/chasis makes wins mean about the same as before. The Reynard does not seem consistantly fast which puts half the field at a big disadvantage.

I think the simple fact that anyone is able to win a race considering everyone was lining up for CART's wake makes it special.

The teams with the new Lola chassis are still at an advantage I think - some of the other teams appear to have inherent understeer, especially Dale Coyne's cars (it's not all Joel and Alex's fault), and the Reynard isn't as impressive these days - which is compounded by the fact that most of the Reynard drivers are new with no experience of car setup.

JV's Opinion...
He said: "...If I don't find an F1 cockpit, I'll quit...I will not race in the CART series. If it stays at its current level, it is not interesting for me."

His helmet isn't as aerodynamic as it once was, anyway. It would be great to see him come back, but we certainly don't need him.

But doesn't GOS want to race with living legends such as the Coyne phenom twins and Rodolfo Lavin?

JV's comment is in the same league as Papis' "CART needs me more than I need CART".
Arrogance won't be overlooked, Mr. Villeneuve. You may have been great at one time, but your credit is slipping fast. |
