Dyk is out of his league - no doubt about this - and should be sacked immediately otherwise the season is worthless. I'm also not convinced that John Martin is the answer because he has been off the pace of competitive guys (0.3 sec is an eternity).

Unfortunately, I don't have the answers about who to put in but it's time to have a "shootout" between all the likely young guns. For what its worth, I think these cars wouls suit Leanne Tander so I'd like to see her have a drive. I also think her aggression suits the category.
I think the team feel that John Martin is ready to take on the lead driver role. Ok, John Martin was 0.3 of a second behind Michael Ammermuller in the rookie session at Zhuhai, but if he was only 0.3 behind Ammermuller in qualifying (who went on to take pole for the sprint race), he would of been 3rd on the grid. A1 Team Australia haven't looked like qualifying on the second row of the grid since Ryan Briscoe was driving for the team.

i think It's time to give Martin a chance. Barton Mawer wasn't much either. he was going slower then Dyk in practise and test sessions.

Reading between the lines of "in the hot seat" I suspect Alan Jones would like to put John Martin in the car, and perhaps will next season, but Ian Dyk has paid for his drive for this season. I do remember something about one of the team's sponsors having sponsored Ian Dyk for quite a long time previously.

Well if we are going to have Dyk for the hole season, then i hope he doesn't always be at the back of the grid!

If this driver doesnt have the faith of his team, and cannot do the business behind the wheel... Mr Dyk has enough strength of character to give someone else a go....

Ian isn't doing any better or worse than any of the other rubbish drivers Team ustralia have had.

When they used Will Power, they had someone decent. The rest are just terrible. Noce to see Australia NOT winning something

Better get used to it because we will start winning sooner or later:P. we have the team to win but Dyk isn't the driver to get to the top.

Marcus Marshall was crap. He scored a podium at Sentul in a crazy race where the winner (Sean McIntosh/Canada) started last, by keeping his nose clean. But his pace was slow.

Briscoe was quite competitive I thought, usually in the top 6 and I was disappointed when he didn't continue. My summary would be as follows:

Very good: Will Power, Ryan Briscoe
Good: Lost to touring cars?
Poor: Ian Dyk
Very bad: Karl Reindler, Marcus Marshall
Very funny: Christian Jones

Ian Dyk to get "boned" before the next round.

Jeroen Dyk/Garry Jones to sue Alan Jones (no relation) for breach of contract.

Leanne Tander to drive at next round.

Karl Reindler was always in the fighting position for points. He is better then Dyk i reckon. Also got a podium in china last year and did get quite alot of points. But he had alot of bad luck. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sure, it's a tricky choice. IRL and/or the ALMS with the famous Team Penske or A1GP with the (so far) underperforming Team Australia. Hmm...

It would create some headlines.

But without any other real experience in the car, thats all it would create.

It's done - http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,...-23770,00.html

Good decision in my opinion. Two points after four rounds is dismal.

hopefully it's an improvement, but they really can't go any further back by trying someone new and John looks decent in the rookie sessions.

Hey good tip, Stocky! It's reported here, too.

I was wrong about Karl Reindler getting the drive. He went to New Zealand for a holiday, not to race!
