Gets worse. The Oldtimer clashes with Oulton Park Gold Cup. The Donington Historic Festival clashes with the 360. The latter being two important meetings for us club racers.

Not looking at the various club/organisers calendars, although dates may have changed. Have to check the Historic Calendar too.

Thanks Chris, just seen your post. I stand corrected.

Same old reasons I guess, mostly demand on circuit time from modern racers and bikers as well as our old stuff. Some will obviously take priority! Most disappointing personally is that the 4 CSCC Special saloon modsports races all clash with something equally as interesting.

CTCRC opening round at Silverstone clashes with the 360 however I dont have a long enough range fuel tank or deep enough pockets to fill it if I had to do the 45 minute 360 so thats made the decision for me. Also Silverstone half the travelling distance from Watford.

Sorry that you won't be joining us Al. One thing we can't do is to move Snetterton nearer to Watford.

I know that we're a specialised and, so far, a one event club but we have been continually 'buffeted' by clashing meetings after we have arranged our date. Claire Smith has already made the point, several times, about the lack of direction, co-operation and control of the calendar but there are only so many weekends in the year and we have to share circuit availability, not only with modern championships/series and also with motorcycles.
There's only so much that the 'market' will stand and I find it sad that some clubs/organisers, perhaps those not providing good value for money or 'customer care', will be 'caught in the crossfire'.

Not a proper historic meeting I know but the MGCC Brands Hatch clashes with the 360 as well and it's a two dayer with a double header for our series.

I was talking to someone yesterday who told me he had around 25 events he could enter, including the Spa 6hrs (having the same car I guess I have the same opportunity). He suggested that one way to pair it down would be to only visit each circuit once during the season. Those of us with limited weekends might consider two events in a weekend, depending on timing for qualifying, geography etc. At least I have two potential races at the 360.

Its the race distance thats the deciding factor John, I think you should have left it at 30 minutes, 45 is just too long to do on your own without fueling and I am not over keen on sharing as my cars are not the most user friendly if you know what I mean!

But then again it would seem that most people enjoy the longer distance races,if I remember correctly Al,you were looking at extra fuel capacity last year?

I take your point Al and, of course, it's a matter of choice. The 360MRC was originally started to run a 6 hour race for clubmen, under the strap line "Endurance Racing as it Should Be". We like to think that we've succeeded and it sets us apart from the other mainstream race organisers, hence there is even an 'endurance' element to the support races and even the HRDC races are longer than an average club meeting - that's why we're so delighted to have them with us. It also means that we can maximise the use of the very expensive track time to keep our entry fees as low as possible.
Having said all that, I'm still sorry that you won't be with us and, if you change your mind, you'll always be welcome.

The yellow one at a touch with the wind behind it! I have been looking for an extra tank but I need to press on with the IROC project or it just wont happen and the other cars are currently turn key ready. Mind you the IRoC has a 30 gallon fuel cell...... lol

Sorry to differ Peter - The first FISCAR event is at MGCC Donington on 8th April. I only know because its already in my diary as my first event. Hotly pursued the next day with the HRDC races at Castle Combe.

Busy weekend me thinks....

Al, I had to fit an extra 10L tank to cope with a 1 hour race a couple of years ago, the whole deal incl plumbing cost me about £60 and took a couple of hours to fit. Rallye Design I think, foam filled alloy. Then the race was desperately wet and only used half the main tank!
