Cmotd - you missed my point.

IF TGF didn't lose his egde, as some here are saying, THEN...

I have no doubt years have left trace on his body, and I don't expect him anywhere near where he was five years ago, but I guess some are still expecting him to walk on water...

Well Michael gave Nico a bit of a thrashing. Nice one old man.

PS: You should still probably retire though.

It was a relief to see actually. I don't actually want to see Schumacher doing badly, otherwise his return is totally pointless. I prefer to see a bit of the old Schumacher (I mean the younger one).

wasnt a bad drive at all considering schumacher made the best of a woeful car compared to his team mate.Still no need to get carried away and say hes back blah blah ect but might give him some confidence for the rest of the season (then again i doubt he is short of that)

i think the real problem is the car , how the hell have they got it so wrong despite starting development so early maybe they should give rory a call...

People are calling for Schumacher to retire, but perhaps he shouldn't give up the day job. At least not for acting.

He scored some points today. A solid race, although I bet Kobayashi isn't his best friend at the moment.

Wasn't that great a race, but he did better than Nico quite comfortably.

Mercedes are worryingly mediocre!

Indeed.

I don't see Michael sticking about long enough to enjoy the good times that Merc could certainly have once Ross gets things sorted out.

It would be interesting to see what Schumacher could do in a Mclaren or Red Bull, at the moment he is in a uncompetitive car and he is performing at least as well as his team mate now, if not better. I feel sorry for Schumacher, in pre season testing this year the car looked like it would be competitive but it obviously isnt. Stick Vettel or Hamilton in that Mercedes and I doubt either would do any better than what Schumacher is at the moment.

interesting thought I wonder how schumacher would fare against hamilton,vettel,alonso if he had a car that was as competitive as the Red Bulls and McLaren,as much as im a big fan of him i wouldnt be suprised if it was somthing like webber is at the moment I could see him being somewhere on that level im pretty sure Vettel would out qualify him and out race him if they had the same car

Let's put some more firewood in the (high-tech Merc) furnace.

Data about Rosberg-Schuey gap in every GP session so far (3 Practice sessions, 3 Qualifying segments and race fastest lap).
Code:
       Fri1  Fri2  Sat1   Q1    Q2    Q3    FL   Median Score
============================================================
AUS  +0.5  -0.9  +0.3  +0.1  +0.4  +inf  +1.8   +0.4   6-1
MAL  -0.9  -0.5  -0.0  -0.4  +0.6  +inf  +0.7   -0.0   3-4
============================================================
                      R E S U M E
============================================================
Med  -0.2  -0.7  +0.15 -0.15 +0.5  +inf  +1.25  +0.2   4-3
Score 1-1   0-2   1-1   1-1   2-0   2-0   2-0    9-5   9-5
============================================================
"Median" is the resume value for that particular GP (the median value of gaps). "Score" means the... score along the 7 sessions of the GP.

The "RESUME" part of the table is not of much use by the moment, it will be more useful when we have more GPs. But, anyway, the resume table contains the median for sessions and the score for sessions, and, finally, the grand total of median and score for the whole the season (so far).

So, basically, the median gap is +0.2 for Rosberg (faster than Michael), and the score is 9-5 for Rosberg. Australia was clearly for Rosberg and Malaysia was marginally for Schuey (negligibly).

A point of (mild) interest is that MS is marginally faster in Practice sessions and Rosberg has been faster in decisive sessions (Qualifying segments and race fast laps). Too soon to throw theories, though, and fastest race laps are particularly "chaotic" this season.

Just by now, things rather look as last year, even with Pirellis instead of those evil Bridges, but perhaps Sepang is a sign of better things from MS (respecting Rosberg).

Get stomped all over by Hamilton or Vettel? The Mercedes might be rubbish (I wonder if the powers that be in Stuttgart are thinking that their takeover of Brawn GP may have been a spectacularly ill-judged investment in a flash in the pan), but TGF just isn't the driver he used to be. Over the season, I still think we'll see Rosberg come out on top.

I disagree, with just about everything of the above. (Other than Mercedes might be having 2nd thoughts about the take over of Brawn). Still, it will be interesting to see what the eventual outcome is, if im wrong then im wrong, but personally I dont think so in this case. Time will tell.

It's rare, almost unheard of, for one driver to totally dominate his team-mate over a season. Even in the most unbalanced teams, the lesser driver usually out-qualifies and out-races his more successful team-mate 2 or 3 or 4 times. Even at Scuderia Schumacher, that was usually about the score.

Last season, Nico dominated TGF by about that amount too.

This season, we don't yet have a representative sample. Nico has outqualified TGF 2-0. They both got removed from Melbourne. Nico had a shocker of a race in Malaysia after a bad start, while Michael gave us all plenty of entertainment while racing with Bashibashi at the bottom of the top ten.

The relatively poor performance of the Mercedes might be particulary bad scenario for either of the current drivers repuatations but it would present a particularly good opportunity for almost any other driver currently out of work should a seat become free for any reason.

The earliest that would happen is at the end of this season though.

Another disappointing Chinese weekend for Mike so far (Saturday). He definitively is not in a love affair with this track.

Gaps for Nico: Practice=+0.9 +0.2 +0.5; Qualy=+0.2 +0.6 ++
Median Gap: +0.55

Lot of problems with rear tyres grip/traction for the German... I mean the older German.

I think it is about time to bring a longer wheel base car. Michael said somewhen that he had liked to be a truck driver, so I understand his love for longer wheel bases, those pesky F1s of 2011 are so short.

The Ferrari F2003-GA (so beautiful!) was a long wheelbase and TGF was matched by Barrichello quite a lot. He definitely prefers a shorter base I would say for his pointy driving style.
