It is to be decided tomorrow if Team Lotus can still use the 'Lotus' name in F1.

It should go well with a nice wine (courtesy of Trulli)....or some hydraulic fluid, which can give a reasonably good 'flambe' effect, such as we saw in Singapore, last season.

Why am I not surprised that this has all amounted to being expensively needlessly pointlessly pointless?

The whole thing has been pretty pointless and juvinille since day 1. Please just be done with it.

Basically, both sides failed in their attempts to sue the other lol.

From what I remember of the original case, Group took legal action against Team for 1) Breach of license and 2) Use of 'Team Lotus', which Group felt they had the right to.

Team responded by claiming Group were trying to pass themselves off as Team Lotus when they don't own that trademark.

The only thing that stuck was Group's claim of breach of license. The judge ruled that Team Lotus belongs to Fernandes and he may use it, but also that Group Lotus have the right to use the Lotus name on its own and the right to the black and gold livery if they wish, and aren't passing themselves off as Team Lotus.

I think that's a reasonable summary.
