A very short question. When F1 ground effects cars run in vintage F1 classes, are they allowed to run with skirts or not? If not, they must look pretty odd being able to see under them from the sides.

The thought just popped into my head the other day and have only just got around to put it down.

Good question. I don't know the answer but I think they do run with skirts. Be nice to see the Brabham Fan car run again as well.

Ray Bell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
In their heyday, skirts required a separate mechanic/engineer to keep them in shape during the meeting. They also had little Koni dampers to control their movement... would be a job to keep them in shape in an amateur situation, I would think, and expensive... ceramic runners that wear out... problems.

Interesting about the dampers, didn't know that, makes sense though, to maintain a proper seal so to speak. I do recall once in a blue moon that one side would partially stick up during a race, don't remember details, but I think they did.
