Is anybody coming over or know anyone who's coming over? There is very little info available at the moment in regard to entry lists etc. Can you help me?

As the Historic racing club also has a big meeting the weekend before at Pukekohe, currently with 208 confirmed entries, the Taupo list will not be in the public domain just yet.

Great field of Formula Juniors confirmed - several are from overseas and I would imagine, most will also be doing Taupo. Formula 5000 field also stacking up well for Jan 25th/26th and they too will all be at Taupo.

Is it available yet? I'm really interested in who is coming over from the UK for these meetings.

Now 38 F Juniors so the grid is almost full. (Max 40.) Not too sure how many F5000's are in but over 25 expected. They are notoriously slow at getting their entries in!

Over 300 entries received so far and still a week to the closing date. The BMW E30 series list is also full.

Not sure, but I would guess that most of the imports will be there. Coming all the way to NZ and not doing the south island would appear to be a missed opportunity!

Last time I was in the south for a meeting, (Teretonga 2005), there were quite a few of the north island regulars racing and I do know that each year, there are more and more wanting to do the southern series.

The Historic Racing Club and the HRSCC would know for sure.

The Formula Juniors are doing Pukekohe and Taupo then into containers to Calder and Philip Island - so no South Island events. Not sure of the F5000 but it may be the same.

Thanks for that. What is the date for Philip Island? I would love to go there and I do know its a great meeting, but what is the viewing like from behind a camera lens? I've seen some great pics but occasionally, you need a massively long lens to get anything decent.

I suppose I could apply for media accreditation though....

As a spectator you can get quite close to the action at certain parts of the track; Lukey Heights for example or Siberia. It's a fantastic venue.

The Shannons Phillip Island Classic is March 7-9. Great veiwing from around the track, the last 3-4 years you have been able to drive your car (rental for you I guess?) right around and stop at the fence and watch. Its probably the biggest historic event in Australia with 400 race cars and the Porsche Museum are coming again, the feature car from them is the 917/30 (ex Can Am). FJ and F5000 have feature races.

I may have to burn up some air points.... Sounds well worth a visit. We love Melbourne so wife is usually a starter for a trip, but it comes straight after several weekends of racing or car related stuff here and immediately before yet another car weekend.

What a stunning meeting it was... Scorching weather, massive crowd, superb cars, excellent organisation, exciting racing. Heaven is in NZ (when it is not at Goodwood....).

Does anyone have any details or know of links to details on how the first Formula Junior events went over the 26/27 Jan w/e at Pukekohe?
