Sweet Sounds of the Turbo

Finally, it's the last day of the "offseason"! Amazing how much I've missed the thunder of the ChampCar turbos! So I've culled a few audio bits from my vidcam and uploaded them for anybody who wants to listen.

Hope you enjoy!

Good riddance to traction control! That's how a racing car should sound.

The link to the CART sounds page is incredible. I got goose bumps listening to Carpentier winning at Mid Ohio. That was awsome.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked them.
But that was Carpentier winning at MIS with a little help from Tags.

Again, thanks to everybody for the kind words. I'm really glad you've enjoyed them, as it makes it all worthwhile. It's too bad that I can't capture the video to go along with them! But here are a few still images from Carpentier's win that TheRob and I were discussing...

Of course, the high speed passes are WONDERFUL!, but I particularly like the startup clip where the engine sounds pretty throaty as it fires, then a few quick snaps of the throttle to remind us that it ain't no ordinary passenger car engine. BEAUTIFUL!! Let's roll!!

Here's another one. It's longer, about 936K. Listen to the last lap at Michigan in 2000, with Montoya and Andretti exchanging the lead back and forth... What an exciting finish to what had been an amazing race!

I've really been enjoying watching these vids. So much different than TV. They seem to better portray the speed and atmosphere.
