What? Very interested to hear more on this.

I hope this isnt the case, having two classes works well at the moment.

You have the full factory pro efforts in GT500 and factory supported mix of pro and amateur drivers in GT300. Why spoil a good thing?

I guess the whole grand tourer thing is semantics, and somewhat blurred by the whole prototype nature of 500. I still feel that the HSV and GT-R fit the GT class, but the LF-A is going a little to far but it is what it is, my opinion, nothing more

I did remember hearing somewhere about GT300 becoming the premier class for SGT and GT500 splitting off, but I can't quite remember, I think it was on MWM around when the ITR/GTA thing fell through.

The HSV was suppose to be as fast as the LFA, and around $200,000 in price. It doesn't stop Mercedes using the $250,000 in GT3. Thats my thought on it.

International Pokka (Suzuka) 1000 km race will return this year to Super GT calendar, so whether the teams been involved in the third driver in the car?

It would be nice if could, so we can see with the more European drivers

Or maybe some American drivers, including some Grand-Am regulars there...

But I'm glad that they returned to 1000 Km in Suzuka! Wish that they could run it to 2000 Km or 12 Hours...

The GT500 team Weider HSV-010 has repeated history. The Honda-powered team, which started from pole last year, will find themselves in the same position for tomorrow’s race. However, the team nearly lost the most desired position on the grid. Zent Cerumo SC450 has put on a blazing performance during the second qualifying session, which is also known as a Super Lap. At the end, only 0.182 seconds separate the two.

Takashi Kogure of Weider HSV-010 said that he was not expecting to get pole position and instead tipped Yuji Tachikawa of Zent Cerumo for the top spot because the car was faster at every sector. It was only at the final sector that Kogure realized he had a chance; his closest rival was slower by 0.1 second.

In the GT300 class, Hankook Porsche will be starting the race from pole position. The drivers, at a press conference, said that it was the weight penalty on their rivals and the test in SIC in January that led to today’s victory.

Over a second faster than everyone else in GT300. Again, the Prius (w.o hybrid!) was fastest Japanese GT300.

First time I've ever seen Prius and fastest in the same sentence!

I'd really hate to see the faces of the guys that sunk all that money into getting a 300 prepped for this year... the Prius was over 2.5s slower on the superlap

This is not exactly correct, they are still trying to find a way to work together but nothing is confirmed, GTA insists on using Japanese chassis and engines, and is more interested in some DTM cars coming to race in Japan than GT500 in Europe.

But yes the broad direction is clear(ish) but the details are complex and far from certain. (engine size is a big sticking point)

The target is however a final agreement for 2014...

Wait, 2014? That's two years long to wait for DTM and SGT to race together! Too bad that Grand-Am won't be joining for sure, they should have joined ALMS instead while Trans-Am joins both DTM and SGT.

Still, my worry is that DTM won't allow hybrid technology which Super GT is pushing forward along with Formula Nippon.

Then, they should push hybrid technology to their series too.

Still, I wonder what time or when will they race in Sepang?

Rce of the tradition is 1000 kilometers, so I do not think it would be even longer race.

So you wanted the race to stage like 6 Hours at the Glen, eh? Well, I guess it can't be help then since they're having some electricity problems at the moment.

Maybe in the next two years will see a 12 hour race or a revival of 24 Hours at Tokachi in Japan.
