eb911 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
1st gen. Camaro group 2 Specs - Brian Muir, Terry Sanger, Frank Gardner.

I am currently looking for information regarding the brits 1967-69 Camaro that used to race in group 2 in BTCC and ETCC. I am particularly looking to find out if one of these 3 cars ( Wiggins Teape, Flame out, SCA freight) did use a dry sump system back in 1971.
The dry sump system was allowed from 1971 in the US and some teams used it but is it the case in UK on these Camaros ?

Any input on this issue would be much appreciated.

Dunno but I do have a period complete dry sump system as fitted by penske to the IROC camaro. Moon eyes tank and weaver 3 stage pump is what was used.

Thank you Al. My car is an ex. A Sedan Camaro that raced continuously from 1972. As the dry sump was allowed from 1971 in the US, my understanding is that my car has always raced with a dry sump. That said I am in the middle of the FIA homologation process and I have to prove that dry sump was used on a first gen group 2 Camaro in period in International racing.
So I need to find articles, pictures or anything that shows any group 2 Camaro used a dry sump in the 1970-1971 period. Hence my question on the Brits Camaro in period.

thanks

The best papers to run to are the Z28 papers 1449; the rest are pretty standard cars. The better papers are for the Z28 5000cc cars, which is not the best engine to build. Generally, bigger is better with the small block.
The best set of papers is for the 2nd Gen Car, the 1970 Camaro, set number 5310. This is the car that ran a lot in the early seventies at Spa etc. These papers are truly sent from Heaven. GM obviously tried very hard with this car. Small & big Block engines homologated with dry sumps & tubular exhausts. Big Blocks in 7000 & 7500 cc in both iron & aluminium blocks. Multi plate clutches, big brakes, flares, Lightweight bodyshell. This car has got the lot. It's all on the papers & it all ran in period.
Good luck with your project. Pete

Hopefully, this may assist.

Pete it seems, has a copy of the homologation documents, so seems he is the man to ask!

Thank you. My car being a first gen Camaro it is homologated as a 5.0 liter Z28. The Homologation papers are 1449. As a first gen car I cannot of course use the Homologation papers of a gen 2.
So for the dry sump I need to find evidences it has been used in period.

1st gen Camaro group2 spec

Motoring News track tested the Brian Muir car 16 Dec 1971. Was then fitted with a 302 and whilst it gave full engine spec there was no mention of dry sump and nothing in photos. Said that earlier in season it had run with 327 and 350 and that there had been homologation issues with the 350 that stopped it being used for a while
