Ten-Tenths Regional Meets

Ok I am typing this as im thinking it so I hope it makes some logical sense!

How easy would it be to create regional ten-tenths meetings for us people from the UK to go to at a specified location?

I know that meet ups are arranged at alot of meetings throughout the year but im sure their are some posters here who are not neccesarily frequent race go'ers as such. Im getting my idea from national car owners clubs, that every so often have regional get togethers for all the members to socialise.

Obviously there are alot of potential pit falls to my idea but it just might work! Then again it could well be a totally stupid idea!

Any comments people?!

Yep, sounds like a good idea and also a thread for Trackside?

Shall we move this one, or should I start another in Trackside?

Surely there are enough "who's going to such-and-such a race meeting" threads that if people were keen enough to want to meets weirdos from t'internet then they can do so?

Well my idea was more aimed at meeting away from the race track, as its unlikely not everyone here regularly attends race meetings.

I get you now...

Although if people can't get to race meetings due to time/money constraints then they'd be unlikely to be able to get to a pub meet or whatever.

I'm a member of the pistonheads.com forums and they organise a large number of 'meets', so the idea isn't without merit.

I reckon it is a good idea. I used to live in NW Kent and there were 2 very good car clubs there, Borough 19 and 7Oaks. I now live in the terrorist capital of the world (High Wycombe). Can I find a race/speed event motor club in the area?? I know there are racers locally, as they have been cropping up on 10/10ths.

Monthly meets to shoot teh breeze and maybe more would be good.

That's unfortunate to be living there! I'm only about 1/2 an hour away in a town called Chesham. (It is such a crap place to live. Their is nothing to do their). But I'm only an hour away from Silverstone, Brands Hatch or Santa Pod.
I think we have a racer in our town though. I think his name is Phil Rudge and he races in the Mini Miglia series.(I might be wrong though!)

PS; I know Tony Ahmed from DTRC lives in Wycombe, although he has moved to Portsmouth to live with his girlfriend recently. If you have seen her, you would know why, lucky guy!!
