24 Hours of Daytona (Spoiler)

Congratulations to Dan Wheldon, Scott Dixon and Casey Mears for their victory in the Rolex 24 Hours!

Falling two laps down, three times, the Ganassi squad battled back.

Not bad for three "ovalists"!

Also, kudos to Justin Wilson and A.J. Almendinger from Champ Car, who finished second in the event...

and to Paul tracy, who put on the "BEST" driving effort of the early hours of the race by shooting to the front early from mid-pack in the DP field at the start....a stellar driving effort on Paul's part...

Time for Ganassi to go after the ALMS, Sebring and Le Mans! Mr. Ganassi is developing quite a nice record for himself as a team owner.

Nice driving by Eddie Cheever and Carpentier early in the event too, leading in the team's first Grand-Am race.

It appears Ganassi has no interest in ALMS, too expensive and no factory money that he can get in on.

On the whole, the open wheel american racing leaves Daytona with a boost in their morale I guess.

I would love to see Ganassi in the ALMS...

However, with his Grand Am, NASCAR and IRL commitments, that could and would stretch his resourses rather thin...

A simple reality for many of these professional teams isn't it? They simply will race where their sponsors/manufacturer backer wants them to be.
