Who is the most unloved team in F1 history?
I opened this article expecting yet another Ferrari bashing. Present day Ferrari would would certainly get many votes as the most unloved team in F1 history. But this article is something else entirely and is something to look forward to at the next Goodwood Festival.........

Ferrari are very loved and Andrea Moda are loved for a different reason...
The article gives a great candidate. It stops one of my favourite drivers from being competitive. |

It is amazing how many great people were involved in the team in the article, yet it still didn't succeed.

Yes, Adam, the team in the article gave a start to some of the most successful F1 staff of the modern era.
It's the type of project I don't think we're likely to see again. |

I like Andrea Moda for the reasons of it being a farce. They were a small backstreet concern trying to go GP racing. This is what i think modern F1 lacks. The best days of F1 was during the 70's when many engineers or drivers thought i could do that. Went home and built their own car. This makes it very interesting seeing so many different chassis.
I for one dont like Ferrari , they are the Man Utd of racing. So many people love them for the fact they win...lots!! although there are many diehards out there who love them through thick and thin. Last edited by Lola; 14 Dec 2004 at 20:55. |

I think the Toyota suggestion is actually quiet good. There are atleast SOME fans for every other team on the grid. Does anyone have warm feelings for the cold corporate machine that outspends all and seemingly has zero ability to succeed?

Jaguar...
Mainly because they ended Johnny Herbert's career, ruined what was heading to be a decent team, had the ugliest livery ever, and were driven for too long by Eddie Irvine. Oh, and they sacked Bobby Rahal, who's about the only thing that ever came good for the team. And I hated Ford's **** politics and endless lack of any real commitment. |

Arrows...for the way they were born, it seemed to take them a few years to be accepted.
Does Peugeot count? Utterly pointless and wrecked more than one career with their apathy - as well as an entire team. ATS may be a choice. Either of them. |

Most unloved teams in F1....
I think of the current teams, it is a tie between Sauber and Toyota. Take a stroll through a grandstand at any of the GP's. How many fans are wearing Toyota or Sauber merchandise compared to Ferrari, Williams, McLaren.. etc. Of former teams.. I think the Prost re-incarnation of Ligier was fairly unloved. Pacific, Forti from the 90's also were unloved. I think the most unloved team in history would have to be the Alfa-Romeo squad from the early 80's |

Well, in 2003, you were seeing a lot more Sauber merchandise on people than anyone else except the big 4.
Most unloved... must be Copersucar. But if you ask me about the biggest joke of a team, that's got to be Andrea Moda. |

If i may joke about it-at least Andrea Moda provided a classic funny moment
At one of the GP's,when poor perry finally got a chance to hop in the car the engine wouldn't go Some wag suggested that the mechanics, who were pushing it down the pitlane in attempt to start it (?) were making the engine noises and it didn't really have an engine at all |

I think pirenzo says it best. As for Toyota they are no less "corporate" than Renault or Honda. And they will be winning probably even starting this year. The reason? Mike Gascoygne...

Minardi would have to be the team nobody dislikes. I'd probably say Simtek. Toyota are a boring team. I miss Arrows, not the owner, the team.

There are people who dislike Minardi since PS became a whingeing moneygrabbing woos..
When they were genuine underdogs, then GO MINARDI... now however, with all the legal issues that PS has raised I have no particulay urge to support the team. D. |

Andrea Moda at least got to start a GP; the car itself was a fundamentally decent Simtek design - and Simtek must go down as the unluckiest team.
If you're after plain bad teams, you cannot do worse than Life. Although Kauhsen would not have been far off. |
