So wrong it is not funny. What maker wants to try and push a model, and use someone else's engine? The V8SCs still use brand specific engines. Whilst changes have been made to them, they are still individual engines. And will be even more individual under the COTF rules. |

Sorry if that was the case with the Supercars.....no series, end of story. Just the same if Ford were using Chev engines, visa versa or both brands were using the same engine, they are pretty passionate over there.

Agreed, there's never been the same passion about it over here as there is over there, and you have to say that these days the cars bear so little resemblance to what you buy in the showroom that a lot of fans are just following the drivers like Lowndes and Whincup. They've both changed brands (Lowndes twice) but fans still follow Team Vodafone. Except I don't, the turncoat traitors leaving Ford for Holden!!

I recollect reading somewhere that to qualify as a MSNZ Championship Series there had to be at least 15 entries at 75% of the Series events.
With the NZV8s, there were 16 entrants at Pukekohe, 10 at Ruapuna, 9 at Teretonga, 10 at Timaru, 15 at Manfield and 13 at Taupo. |

I'm talking any round of motorsport not just Tier 1 - by your own admission Tier 1 has been well light this season, meaning Roger's point is even more valid! So if that's the state of Tier 1, yet other non-MNZ controlled series are doing well, what does that tell you?
Lot of ex-NZV8 guys racing Historics and the like these days, and they seem happy, too! |

Have to say Mr Edgell had the bit between his teeth in the last race a great drive for the spin to win.

The words used in the press release were "firm orders" which doesn't necessarily mean any money has changed hands.
I suppose the TMC guys are thinking this as progress with nine "firm orders" being a step up from the eight cars that ran every round in the 2011/12 NZV8 Series. To answer your query - I don't really know but Mr Tulloch could be in there for two, with Short being another and McKenzie another. Not too sure about Edgell as the whisper was Chesters were looking at a ST?? |

Interesting debate going on here. I must say i watched the racing yesterday and enjoyed it as best i can...Taupo is such a cool track. But it was a real shame that there was no mention at all of the new car, the media gig they did last week, and the announcement made late last week.
Whoever is running the 'marketing' side of things for BNT's/NZV8's or whatever you want to call it, needs to be shot. If you have a new product (that supposedly is going to re-shape touring car racing in this country by getting all these other manufacturers involved) you would promote the crap out of it, and if you had your hackles up, you would rub it in with the ST guys (especially seeing as a court case is impending....although that has gone quiet hasn't it?). So what i want to know is, why has there been absolutely nothing other than a press release last friday, about this new car and class. Its just rubbish marketing, and for me it either means they are keeping something up their sleeve, or they just havn't joined the dots together yet.....methinks its more of the latter. And if it does go ahead, with the two poster boys for BNT (Fogg/Edgell) off to ST (well at least Fogg is anyway, but i think Tim won't be too far behind) then the field is going to be pretty weak, with the exception of their other poster boy, Bargwanna, if he sticks around. So you end up with a all-kiwi made car (which is great), looking the part (which is also great), but with a field that no-one really give two hoots about (which is not so great). Its a bit unprofessional this whole thing to be honest, and its not making Inky and his friends look any good. Last edited by NZSTfan; 12 Mar 2012 at 03:21. Reason: spelling |

and it only took you 2 years to realise it was unprofessional. ALL parties are as guilty as each other, don't lay all the blame on MSNZ/ TMC when the teams were stake holders in the whole debacle. |
