Formulahistory should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
South American Formula Series

Why is the Brazil F3 in a bad condition? The country rises, racing is very popular there, but the junior formulas have problems. why?

And what are the 5 best formula racing series in South America now?
Panam GP, Latam Challenge Series, but what then?

South Americans only care about local tin-tops. It's where the stars race. Junior formulas attract few fans.

The Latam Challenge is kind of like the ADAC Formel Masters, or a Volkswagen equivalent of Formula Ford if you prefer. Some 2012 rounds were held in Texas. The champions gets a Road to Indy scholarship, don't remember what exactly.

The top 3 drivers do get a Star Mazda test(http://www.starmazda.com/competitors...2MRTIRecap.pdf), but I don't know if there's a true scholarship system so to speak?

Yeah Latam is from North America (México with rounsds in USA) and Panam is Latin American (from México) and it's the premiere series I would guess, it's Formula Abarth.

But truly from South American the top would be Brazilian F3 with many good graduates...ARGENTINA has a Formula Renault 1.4 but it's got really small cars and it's intended for very young drivers...

In fact, Argentine F. Renault is a Formula Renault 2.0 with tubular chassises with some kevlar on the sides...

- No interest from mass media. Motorsport is a quite ignored activity here. In a hierarchy of preferences, it sits below soccer (surely), MMA and even volleyball.

- Most of the young drivers go straight from kart to touring cars because of professional possibilities. It's way easier to make money racing a Chevy in a Stock Car V8 race against Ricardo Mauricio, Ricardo Zonta and Antonio Pizzonia than spending huge amounts of money driving a Dallara-Mugen against seven or eight chaps in empty circuits with little or no possibilites of reaching Formula One or Indy one day.

- Incredible as it could sound, there isn't so much money to be spent in motorsport. Felipe Nasr, for instance, almost had to head back home after being Brit F3 champion because he had no sponsorship to make a leap to GP2 or something like this. He got help from Banco do Brasil and OGX down to the wire, to be honest.

- The series itself is not that well-organized and reliable. This year we almost didn't have a Sudam F3 season because there was no calendar or confirmed entries until the end of the first semester.

- Costs. A complete season is as expensive as, say, a Formula 2 season.

- Level of drivers. The last champions went nowhere after the success. Leonardo Cordeiro and Fabiano Machado struggled in GP3 and Yann Cunha is a hopeless in WSbR, having been beaten by Zöel Amberg while they shared Pons Racing.
